Great news! I'm really wary now with my Whippet, he just blindly runs after the ball no matter where it goes... brambles... massive ditch etc. I once watched him jump down 7 foot in to a ditch chasing his ball, thankfully it was full of water. He had to get surgery once to stitch up a massive flap of skin (could see bone!) that he was none the wiser to, think he went through a rose bush.

No idea how a sling works, think the idea is just to immobilise the shoulder.
The vets have just called back and it turns out he may not actually be home today as they want to do more x rays to check it has relocated properly... Not sure what's going on but the new options were either a) he just goes home and you take him in for checkups twice a week to make sure it's not re-dislocated or b) referral to specialist orthopedic team who do extra x rays and are more familiar with dislocations and what to do about them. In the absence of much information to make the decision, I just asked what the best option for his recovery is and they said b) so that's what I chose

Who adopted from underdog? We're they a bit useless? We wrote a few times and applied and barely heard back.

I did! Their communication was great with us. That was a couple of years ago now though, I wonder what's changed.

After a week of being super careful in his sling, my dog's shoulder has dislocated again, and he's in for surgery this morning.
This obviously isn't the outcome anyone wanted but we are determined to make the rest of his life as happy as possible even if he won't be able to run like before. They will cut out part of his bicep and stitch it up and across the shoulder to help secure the joint.
The dog behind him in the queue, at seven years old, was in for a kidney removal but had had four knee reconstructions previously. He seemed happy despite everything.

Weird. Took a week to reply to a question. Then no response to application or chasing up emails.

Sorry that sucks!

Dogs are pretty resilient.
Hoping for a speedy recovery for the dog, and hope it isn't too stressful for the humans. -

We didn't have the best communication from them if i'm honest. When Nori's issues flared up they didn't seem interested and offered very little help. Shame as i know Loz had good experiences with them and other reviews at the time were positive.

Has anyone had a strong reaction from a vet regarding raw food diets? We took Nori for a booster on the weekend and when i mentioned we had started migrating her on to raw she expressed real concerns relating to various infections. It was a quick visit so i've asked her to follow up with some details but it seemed to be related to high protein affecting kidneys. As always it's the polar opposite of what the behaviourist is proposing. Good news is we thought we'd get a measure of her baseline and did some blood tests and the results came back as very positive although i have no idea what that means.
@lemonade sorry to hear, wishing the dog well

Yes I'm a bit put off now in honesty. I've got one amazing dog, and I want to get him a friend. But it's a risk brining another dog into the house with a 15mo kid too. I'll keep looking for another opportunity.
Sorry you had issues.

Bumped in to Crumpet's miniature doppelganger in Brighton. Also an ex Greek street dog!

Any dry/wet dog food recommendations?
Currently trying different options.
Was on butternut box for 2 years but it's almost £90/month and a pain in the ass to store and defrost. Tipping point was a holiday to Scotland and storing the the food. Raw won't work as my partner refuses.

Royal canin?
My dog gets Purina now as it's what's available. That and my scrap eggs and some meat when I eat it. Plus whatever wild animals and horse poo he gets. -

Frankie is finally loving his walks. It took a while and he was a reluctant weeer and pooer in the wild but it's all good now.

It's Crumpet's 3rd birthday today (or at least the day we've taken a wild stab in the dark as being roughly her birthday anyway). Any idea what age she'll stop rolling in human turds? Hopefully that's not too far off.

Well, that's great news, hope the rehab is swift and mostly painless. How does a sling work?
