  • I always get them mixed up. (Have family in Warnford so spent a fair bit of time around there when I was a kid).

  • So the Mendips are pretty nice eh? Explored them a bit for the first time, looking forward to getting to know them a bit more.

  • We also did local lanes, cans of lager in a layby, back along the river. 8:30 starts give you the rest of the day free.

    Random airfield

  • Cobbles are not cool or fun or clever...they're shite.

    This.

The only exception is watching other people ride cobbles.

    Stupid cobbles. >>>

  • Cornwall is a hilly bugger. Rode a coast to coast and back again, inadvertently ending up on some very rough roads which did for the sidewall on my GP5000TR tyre which just about held with a plug though the last hour was very much limping home with 30psi

  • Yesterday I cycled from my new Essex home to East Beach, Shoeburyness. It beats cycling to High Beach any day and I much prefer dodging pedestrians walking on the cycle path to worrying about the ten ton lorry coming up my backside.

I also timed it to coincide with high tide, so could go in the water.

I'm definitely living my best life, although it's on a hybrid not a fixie.

PS I can do this every day of the week if I choose. Not restricted to weekends.

  • What important piece of kit did you forget/not work this weekend?

  • I didn't have mitts. My hands are quite sore.

To be fair, we can't find the mitts still, so I think I may have lost them on the Brimstone 600.

Ironically, I found a pair of mitts at one of the controls (service station) but didn't want to take them in case the owner came back for them.

  • I shouldn't have lol'd, but I did. I was joking when I made the post.

At least it wasn't your shoes...

  • Most of the issues are with shared packing. The missus was away so I thought I had planned it pretty well. I can't pack what I don't have though. I guess it's an improvement.

  • A quick pre-Dunwich test to see how painful it'll be fixed. 70 miles out to Dunstable & Ivinghoe Beacon. Set off at 6am to avoid the heat and it worked out great although I was too early for either The Hub in Redbourne or the National Trust cafe at Dunstable so had to make do with a nakd bar and single water bottle for the first 50 miles. Had a great second breakfast in St Alban's though which more than made up for it.

Accidentally stopped the Garmin when I stopped for breakfast but you get the idea.

Plenty of birds (including loads of red kites) and a muntjac deer for company.

Foxgloves in a wood on the way to the Downs were stunning and a few fields were planted up with wildflowers and poppies.

  • Hot damn that peanut butter brownie looks incredible

  • 30 and a bit mile bimble out to the Yorkshire sculpture park on Sunday. Went the long way round so I could take a picture of the jokes sign at Horbury Bridge.

  • Cafe50nine in St Albans

Noticed this today. Not really ideal for 40mph fixed descents.

  • Bit of Gaiman spotting for me. Bottled a long ride to Oxford due to the headwind, and many miles through 'sitting smoke' from a local wildfire that made my chest ache.

  • They do those at a local cafe here. Very difficult to resist adding to the order...
