  • Still perfect for grav grav

  • Oh very much so!

  • Got a link to this? I want know what the handlebars started as.

  • if you ever see me on a bike with a long front center and a head tube that slack please have me sectioned.

What the hell is a front center?

That bike would be chill fun.

    Definitely not gravely tho.

There is something off about it though. If it were mine I'd be restless about it. I probably be giving it a lay back dropper post and chilled out bars with much more sweep.

I do like the bar stem combo but for a different more aggressive machine

  • The distance from saddle to bar looks out of proportion to the seat height.

  • What the hell is a front center?

    Yo moma.

  • Bikepacking article in the black thing and it's drop bar friend:

So basically it's two pr bikes by chromag.

Posted because I really like the bar stem combo. But then I saw that "for safety reasons" you don't get them if you buy it.
They are definitely strange and look off, but that's what happens when you make an aggressive gravel rig ™.

  • Very good point.

  • Yeah, they also don't seem to make a chromoly bar that I could use to make my own version. Oh well...

  • Surly does make steel bars.

  • There's quite some steel bars, but nice ones tend to be a bit expensive. My eBay Moto bars are ugly (look like I bent them myself and already rusting) but the steel tumbleweed persuader is incredible. Also cost about 7 times as much.
@M_V I think stooge scrambler bars might be in stock?

  • Moto is, I don't think there's another run of the scrambler bar. Which is a shame, because it's lovely. Despite the weight penalty I do really rate steel bars for rigid bikes.

  • Surly does make steel bars.

    So do I!

I just like the look of those because they are (I presume) 31.8mm in the middle so nice and fat for attaching to the 'stem' like that.

I also find real low rise bars like that tricky to make as my bender requires a lot of space between bends.

  • Guess the 31.8 to 22 in steel is so expensive it doesn't really make sense?
The one piece welded stem bar thing needs a fat mid section, I agree.
I have a scrambler bar spare, but it's the not a part I want to get rid of.

  • The steel persuaders midsection somehow is not that nice in the middle.

  • Ergotec has a micro alloy steel riser with 31.8 on their site, but it's only 660mm, and I can't find it for sale.
