Hey my bullitt has a Rohloff
I’m really bad at taking photos but I’ll take some later today to show you battery tray etc -

That's encouraging, thanks.
Will re instate the original non electric wheel to start with (which was provided with the bike) then investigate.
Definitively would have benefited a granny great last night, but I guess I can't get a front derailleur for a triple on that fat tube... -

Missed this - good work! And chapeau for hauling it up Crystal Palace!

Gearing for manual pedalling: my bike is about 40kg with the box on. Plus child and bits adds up to 60-65kg. I’ve got a 32T narrow-wide at the front and 11-34 cassette at the back. That seems to be plenty of gearing IMO 👍

As someone quite new to e-cargo bike ownership, what do I need to know about locking it up?
I've made a few trips but not yet any that have involved me leaving it behind.
Thinking D-lock, chain lock and rim lock.
Remove the battery as well?

• #11683
Definitely remove the battery and head unit if you can. Have had batteries stolen when the rider left the bike for a couple of minutes and another one of our riders had the head unit pinched whilst they were still on the bike!

Always remove battery x1000
GPS if possible, and a decent lock. Maybe one of the new angle grinder resistant locks if you’ve got the budget

I mean best bet is figure out what bots you have and go from there. For gearing id keep it simple with 1x. More gears probably less useful then real range. Its pretty flat where we are with some incline but we mostly use 3 gears only.

Sadly both wheels (original and Elec) are freewheel blocks.
Other than this, all panels need replacing, cheeky seller description didn't really say that and I didn't see at first when picking up. Maybe the guy didn't know. Stripped as it'll need more attention than I anticipated. Annoying as that's less summer time with the kids with it. -

Unless the panels are a safety issue id ignore them for the summer and just swap the rear wheel for something cheap that can run an 8/9/10 and enjoy the time now

Not safe, the benches are falling apart, the ply is delaminating, etc

I mean yeah that sucks, bodgeable, but if its already off it’s probably faster to get some replacement pieces cut at a hardware store and finish cut at home.
-
• #11693
Do you have measurements, if it's just a flat bench it's not that difficult to cut one.

Depends where you go, I have hexlox on the front wheel, if I'm just popping in the shop I dlock the back wheel and take the little speedometer off. If I go into a shop and I'm by the door and can see the bike I just use the wheel lock and take off the speedometer butif I'm leaving the bike for a longer period I dlock, chain and take the battery off.
Unfortunately not many places have good facilities to lock up a cargo bike so you have to way up practicality with security, just get insurance and be as safe as you feel comfortable with.

Wow, that's pretty bad - is that in London?
We'll be out of here within 2 weeks and in the hopefully more civilised climes of Oxford (another bike theft hotspot though).
The head unit is not that attractive - it's a scratched Yamaha type A display which might be wired rather than plug-in. But the battery will come with us.

• #11696
Yeah, couple of different spots in London!

Yes, nothing complicated, just time consuming...
Anyone knows how to service the main pivot? And adjust play? Wouldn't want to ruin this to a point of no return...
Apart from a bit of perceivable play when riding, seems otherwise healthy. Thanks!

Half a turn and a bit was enough to get rid of play... Could it be that simple?
Must be some sort of conical needle bearing.

All good and useful thoughts thank you. It’s probably something more emotional than practical with the Bullitt and I think you and @tbc are definitely being more pragmatic and I am being slightly more midlife crisis about it. I have messaged the guy on eBay about the Babboe.
I have a question on the Babboe with car seats - Babboe sell the Steco Baby Mee adapter for car seat but don’t mention the Steco Mini Mee anywhere … my car seat will only fit to the Mini Mee … I’ll check with them later but if anyone has successfully fixed a Mini Mee to a Babboe would be good to know
@veLLo nice work!
