She is able to stand up right now with her feet on the rack (green circle) and comfortably standover the top tube. We have done this several times on bailed rides but once she gets tired legs she'll want to sit and that has meant that I have had to provide a jumper to sit on which has then made shifting suck because of the cable routing via the top side of the top tube. I have now gone for full outer cable which is guided by the excellent frame bag.
If saddle is too high up for that to work I will make some foot pegs (purple line).
She loves the purple horns so I am not wrapping them until the autumn.
Not as cool as a homemade job obviously but were you not tempted to try a Bulldog? We used one for a while (The Omnium rack is at good height for a 3yo's feet ) and for such a crude design it actually works really well. Cost nothing on DBA either.
Yes but I can't cycle with a bulldog seat. My thighs and knees hit.
Also this solution I've made allows me to quickly remove the seat for commuting and then mount for weekend tours
