I don't want to speculate on what happened last night that led to another tragic loss of a young life but I did witness someone almost wipe out on am unrestricted e-bike last week. It must have been doing 30mph and it struck me how little bike handling skills they had and I think that may contribute to more accidents in the future.
I bet a lot of these kids have no prior experience of riding something this powerful.
why is it so easy to buy these things?
it's as if because it's an 'e-bike' that it's a harmless toy, when it's the same as sticking a kid on a 125cc motorbike with no training.
total madness.
Some parents probably don't appreciate the skill needed to ride these machines at the speeds they go. From memory I think the bike involved in the Cardiff crash was a birthday present for one of the boys.
