  • do you have any photos of the battery/loading deck setup?
I've now got all the bits for a bafang bulitt conversion and I'm starting to have to think about practicalities (like where to mount the battery)

Also, does anyone here have any experience of rohloff bulitts? Specifically which dropouts to use and how to go about positioning/securing the external mech?

  • Thanks for the opinions all. I've felt torn for a while. I love the commute to work but 4 days in and I can feel the fatigue and having had to drive for a couple weeks I've been shocked how strong I was at the weekends. Going to give it a serious research now. 👍👍

  • Speaking as someone who has recently installed one, so not a long term review

Installation: piece of piss. If you can remove and install a bottom bracket then you should be laughing. Different frames present different challenges so ymmv.

Power: go big or go home. My bike is heavy, my kids are heavy, all our stuff is heavy. I went for a 750w motor and I have no regrets, and expect if I’d downsized I would be kicking myself.

Long term I’ve got to say I’ve not got the impression of a product that’s going to last for ever, but short term I’m having so much fun I dgaf.

My bafangs been very durable. In about 10000km I've replaced the display only. The speed sensor broke pretty early on but I tend to use it as assist in lower power levels so I've done without it. I think it's in need of a service now but the motors themselves are pretty tough I think.

  • you are lazy though

New cargo trike from Pashley. Be nice if Royal Mail pick up bikes again, and ditch (most of) the vans.

  • Had a neighbour when I got out of the supermarket.

Not sure which Riese and Muller it was maybe the load 75? It looks pretty rad up close, it had 3 seats as well, two facing away and 1 towards the rider, looked a bit tight but good to be able to kick your sibling in the face easily.

  • Does anyone know the seatpost diameter for a Christiania bike?

  • If Berlin is windy it's often quite crazy. Also no rain basically to be honest.
But then your thing is open at the sides, so maybe the oh fuck when entering a junction and you suddenly get a sideways push would never be much worse than without.
Seems like you got perfect family transport anyway!

  • As we're chatting conversions, just saw this.
    It's good.

  • I am so tempted to bafang my ratfiets!

  • 26.2mm for aluminium frames.

  • Tak beaucoup!

  • Hey cargo ppl. Long time lurker, emerging from the shadows to ask … please would you kindly let me know if you hear of anyone selling a Bullitt? About to have a baby and I think this is probably my best option to be able to clip in a car seat and still have a fun bike to ride. Will post a wanted in classifieds later but thought it may be worth asking here - thanks - B

  • I saw this for sale on ebay earlier with London pickup and a low starting price . I bought one recently and like it so far.

It's not as cool as a Bullitt but possibly more family-friendly.

  • Thank you - looks solid and definitely ticks the family-friendly box for a decent price. Glad you’re getting along with it. I think I might hold out a little longer to find a bullitt… I saw this on fb just now but it’s quite far from London and looks a bit battered … maybe just cosmetic though … keen to hear any opinions

  • The one TBC linked is an ebike (also a decent mid drive system) which makes it a pretty bangin’ bargain compared to the one you linked.. not to mention it comes pretty much ready to carry children, with useful accessories like the rain cover and lights etc. (just seen it’s bidding so price could go up a fair bit ofc)

Also I remember reading somewhere that OG bullits had some issues with frames cracking- don’t know how likely but worth looking out for it if you do pick up an old one 2nd hand

Just stuff to think about! Hold out for a bullitt if it’s what you want

  • Na, after 6pm probably won't make it a fun trip.

It wasn't very fun, though I enjoyed some bits.
Picked up my first cargo bike.
    -Wembley to Beckenham
-Was my first time on a bike like this.
-The bike hadn't been used in a million year, zero lubrication, squeaky / rubbing brakes.
-The electric rear wheel isn't working (some bits are missing).
-I was carrying tools, a D lock (just in case) and my Brompton.
    -Crystal f***king Palace.

Took me over 3.5 hours. But I'm happy and hope the kids will be too!

  • Those are great, and I think budget cargos make sense.
And under 4 hours might even be quite fast.

  • Top job. I like that you took an escape pod with you.

  • Good work!

It should definitely be worth it once it's had the once-over, especially if you can get the motor up and running well.

  • Hub motor setups seem pretty easy to fix. I bought a bike in a similar state. New battery, display and some wiring and good as new on the ebike side.

  • Good effort!
