  • The good thing about carbon bars is how easy it is to change the width with a bit of cutting and glueing.

  • Anybody know why I can't open the following page on a MacBook Pro in either Safari or Chrome, but it works on my iPhone?

Works fine for me in both of those browsers. What exactly happens when you try to open it in safari/chrome? Do you get a blank page, an error message, your macbook explodes? What if you try in an incognito window in Chrome? What if you delete your cookies/history in your usual window and then try again?

  • You're using a VPN I'm guessing. I was getting the same behaviour but it works fine if I switch off my VPN.

  • What exactly happens when you try to open it in safari/chrome? Do you get a blank page, an error message, your macbook explodes?

It just hangs with a blank page and then displays the error message stating the page failed to open after a while. It's the same on incognito with both browsers too. And after clearing cookies and browser history.

It's just annoying that it works on my phone, but not my laptop or iPad.

  • When you say it doesn't work on your ipad, is this an ipad that you're using over the wifi, and not an ipad that uses its own sim card? (in other words, do your laptop and ipad have the same network in common, whereas your iphone is using your phone provider's network instead?)

  • I just had to google plyo box so that's my level of expertise, but these might work - https://u-build.org/design-category/buy-a-box/

  • I think you'd need reinforcement around the open face in order to use all 3 axes as a plyobox. Needs maths to see whether steel is stiff enough to allow the reinforcement hoop to be flush with the faces so as not to compromise the storage box utility

  • I'm happy to only use the bottom face - utility of being able to use as storage is more important to me than having different heights of box (and I'm not really aiming to use it for jumps)

  • This is a great suggestion thanks - exactly what I need, and I'm kicking myself for not thinking of them (I looked at this system for my garden room before deciding I didn't have the time for self build)

  • What are the cool kids using for domain hosting these days?

I’ve had 5 domains with 123-Reg for almost 20 years, mainly for catch-all email forwarding… which they’ve suddenly removed support for, breaking all of my email, and are trying to force me to pay extra for each of the 5 domains to reinstate a shitter version of the previously-included functionality. So they can get fucked.

As a stop-gap, I’ve migrated the MX records to a free-tier Cloudflare account, which has fixed my emails, but would prefer to have a single service for domain renewal, hosting and email forwarding/IMAP.

  • What are the cool kids using for domain hosting these days?

I can't speak to the "cool kids" question, but I've been with Ionos for nearly 20 years and they've never given me cause to look elsewhere

  • I use Gandi for this. I think you do need to pay for their more premium email service or something but it is still pretty cheap from what I remember.

  • can anyone on here help me cut down a freehub body to take an 11speed cassette? (currently 10speed shimano, want 11speed - I know some mtb cassettes will work but doubt the intended rear mech will take the larger sprockets - hunting a campagnolo freehub but ideally want to modify this as shimano cassettes are cheap and plentiful etc - yes I could modify the cassette but think doing the freehub body makes more sense - cut once etc)

  • can anyone on here help me cut down a freehub body to take an 11speed cassette?

No, there's not the metal there to do it. We've been here before many times, and recently too:
    https://www.lfgss.com/comments/17002407/incontext/ et seq.

  • Huh, I have a hub that @Hulsroy milled down for me that now fits 11spd road.

  • Ahha, understood - thank you

    Edit - @umop3pisdn o rly?

  • Oh oh what have I done

  • What hub? Cassette body swap?

  • Eyeing up potential purchase of hope pro (very early version) so don’t think a swap is on the cards unless Campagnolo

  • It might not be useful for you but machining a cassette takes 10 min. So if you know someone with a lathe it's an easy job. I've just done it to run an 11sp cassette on an Ultegra 6500 rear hub as the freehub wasn't machinable

  • I know a guy but he moved back to Sweden with his lathe (@MartinERK) - anyone in London able to assist?

  • All the nice guys with lathes live in Scandinavia now

  • Annoyingly my experience marries with that - all the other folk I know with a lathe are out in the countryside and, as politely as I can say it, from a different era…

  • World ID: is it trustworthy, fallible, too early to tell?

It’s a digital ID that’s meant to confirm one’s humanness, is open source, supposedly (helps) maintains anonymity online. All the big buzz words.

  • Pro 3's? You can get a cassette body and swap it to 11spd.
