  • There's a Graz in France as well? Sacré bleu! That thing is great though. Saw someone in Whitechapel with a similar set up on a motorbike recently. Seemed a bit sketchy.

  • Is that a sail?

Does it act like one? Looks like a crosswind could send you sideways.

  • I had a Gates belt drive on my Nicolai Pinion MTB and it snapped maybe 10 rides in... I think a cargo is the right application for belt but if there is any chance of getting twigs, leaves etc. in there I wouldn't bother... chains are amazing.

  • Turdan!

I have a Bafang BBSHD. Had a few issues when first installed which have now been fixed. I love the extra power of it, I would definitely recommend going as big as you can with the engine.

  • That's interesting. They always market them as being more robust but it's not something you can just fix at the roadside or quickly when it does go so that's pretty much enough to avoid it and just replace the drive train like for like.

  • I've snapped one belt and had one delaminate in about 12 years of using belts. The one that snapped was during a ridiculously muddy part of the Dorset gravel dash with stones mixed into the mud.
My work cargo bike has been using a belt for over three years too.
The biggest problem for me is getting replacement parts. You can't get them quickly. No London shops ever have any in stock, so you have to order online and wait, which is not good when it's for your work bike.
That said...I love belts and will always choose them if I can use them on a particular bike.

  • Not so far, I have just used it in one day of weather but no noticiable weirdness. I would not ride it in serious wind though (Same as with the kids box on the back really) but so far in mild wind it just flexed a bit . Its a bit fidly to get set up but so far so good.

This part of Austria is not generally known for its extreme weather, Maybe a few days a year that would be too wild for this. And those days we just wouldn't use the bike

  • Why do they offer this and the quick haul, it seems like almost the same bike or am i crazy?

  • Finished. (Sad) purple bits to be added.

A bit of a parts bin build. That includes the brake bads, which are contaminated as fuck so sound like a foghorn.

Brief ride. It's handles great. Less nippy than my old omnium, less barge like than a bullitt.

  • Really liking the look of this, top job! Is it steer-by-wire? Is that what’s routed through the frame/load bay bars?

  • Looks great built up! How is the weight compared to the Omnom?

  • (Sad) purple bits

    Not correct. Cool purple bits.

  • Yeti again this colour combo rocks.

  • Spotted this cargo train in the wild

  • I was riding my bullitt without a motor for a year but then added one and it was a total game changer. I love riding it so much now.
And carry so much more cargo on a daily basis.

I got a bbshd, EggRider controller, and a big 52v battery under the loading deck.

You don’t have to go fast but if you’ve got a nice open road with no one about it’s pretty fun to go 30mph occasionally.
I don’t think you’ll regret getting a bigger motor as the whole bike weighs a lot already.

Just so you know, loads of people grind bits off the motor or frame or both to fit it….
This is totally unnecessary, you just have to dismantle the entire motor and reassemble it around the frame.

My mate got exactly the same setup and he loves it too, I always see him riding around with a big smile on his face.

  • Will add my 2p pretty much in exactly the same boat having ridden my omnium for a year without assist, then added a BBS02 with an eggrider and love it. Also ride e-bullits at work and it's great. It doesnt make you lazy or less fit it just makes it an overall better experience.

I'll also have a 48v 20ah batt going spare soon that's had a few months use.

  • It doesnt make you lazy or less fit

Ugh... dunno about that! I am certainly getting less of a workout than before... but definitely riding more than before as it's easier. I moved so much of our house contents myself which was great.

  • Haha. Tbf I ride them all day. I found that it meant I could ride on weekends which I wasn't doing before as I was exhausted

  • ………Definitely has made me lazy

But riding more, driving less and getting place faster with more stuff

  • Any pics of the Bullitt, sounds awesome!

  • I've had the work bike on and off the road for months as our local bike shop really screwed the maintenance up. Might have a think if I want spares sitting in a drawer ready.

  • I have been trying for years to keep a spare set of front and rear cogs and a belt , and never seem to find the money for something I don't need immediately. Instead I end up waiting until it's fucked, then get pissed off that I have to lose days of work waiting for the new ones to arrive.😫

  • The brilliant 18 Bikes up my way tend to keep stock of belt drive stuff. Often best to call them rather than rely on the website.
