Can somebody explain to me, while not using words like 'capitalism' and 'marketing,' why an knock-off alloy frame from unspecified tubing costs that much?

I wouldn't call it an knock off but I get where you are coming from, In my opinion there's enough differences between this and the cdale to justify the "inspired by" tagline. When it comes to deciding the price for a bespoke frameset, I'm sure there are many things to take into consideration, like rent, salary, material availability / cost, you'll have to contact kory if you want an answer for that
edit: contacted kory and asked them what tubeset they used and the answer was dedacciai.

Just for interest, estimated fabrication time I'd say:
4-6h tube prep and jig set-up
4-5h welding, back and forth
8-12h finishing and blending welds
2-3h fine-finishing ontop if left uncoated (not needed if powdercoated)
Plus heat treating if needed for the tubeset - can be 6h in an oven sometimes.
Plus materials and admin time and packing.
I imagine that's roughly what it took to make as a one-off. If you were set up to do a few it's probably half that.Multiply by a labour rate for a skilled person with their overheads/outlay depending on size of their operation.
