  • Santa cruz tall boy?

  • Transition spur

Ah I see that's your second link. Just get it then put a bottle on the top tube. I'd pick a bike on it meeting riding needs not the bottle mounts.

  • I’m using a fidlock mount and bottle on my Brompton- the mount has two sturdy rubber straps to hold it in place. Works extremely well. As long as you don’t particularly care what it looks like it’s a great solution

  • The bottle cage thing isn't too much of a concern just a tick on my list :) there are a few frames that meet the criteria in general, Transition Spur, Santa Cruz Tallboy, Scott Spark, Cannondale Scalpel, Salsa Spearfish / Horsethief, Truffle etc so it will come down to availability, fit, and Whoever will let me try one out!

  • I'd pick a bike on it meeting riding needs not the bottle mounts.

I thought the standard answer was 'Geometron'?

    We've come full circle

  • I just put money down on an Epic Evo ... Base model just so I can strip it to the frame and throw my parts on it.

    Blue Sid and all that.

  • Brompton

    Wrong thread mate.

  • Got hacked off with hydros and switched to bb7 a couple months ago when my SLX started leaking but maybe I’ll give em another go on my new project.

Definitely not keen on Shimano so looking at the alternatives.

CRC seem to have various Sram Guide and Code brakes at good prices, they alright or to be avoided?

Hope would be the dream but so pricey new and off eBay it’s a fucking lottery as to what nick they’ll be in eh?

  • Where did they leak?

  • I'm getting tempted by the idea of an XC bike for hacking around Singapore, I think it'd be very useful as a multipurpose/multisurface bike.

  • Whether I could carry enough water is actually a genuinely important question.

  • But where? At the pistons? Cracked piston maybe if it's the ceramic ones?

  • Yeah around the piston, presume it’s cracked or chipped or whatever. Haven’t really investigated.

Rode the bike, it was all working fine, put it away. Pulled it out 3 days later and front brake was screaming and not biting. Back of pad had a bit of fluid on it.

  • That sounds a bit like it. If the pistons don't fully retract even when pushing it's a warranty case. Shimano warrantied my calipers after a bit of paperwork, but that's Aussie so might be more or less tricky where you are.

  • They’re a few years old, can’t really remember where I bought them from, might have a proof of purchase in digital form I guess.

  • I've had the bleed port leak on one of the lower Shimano models. Figured it was just me that hadn't tightened it up but it happened again...and again.

  • I'd try to warranty that as well

  • Time was of the essence and was a £23 replacement for a shitey hybrid. Even the principle didnt make it worth it.

  • You can get replacement Shimano phenolic pistons cheapz on ebay (made from same stuff as stock Hope pistons). Well worth it for rescuing an otherwise borked/out-of-warranty caliper.

  • Does anyone know of anywhere I can watch the DH this weekend, without having to buy yet another streaming subscription?

  • Oh. Good one.

  • So it begins ... Now to strip it all down and get rid of all the SRAM stuff. Suspension will stay RockShox though. Can't wait to get the blue Sid on it.

  • Want a front mudguard for 26"? New, never fitted and now I don't have the bike it was for.

  • If you don't need to watch it live, it'll probably be up on Tiz Cycling within a few hours
