  • Is she racing in Paris on Friday?

  • I don't know a lot about it but her coach did an interview on Bad Boy Running pod recently that was pretty interesting. The marathon win was very unexpected by the sounds of it.

  • My friend had an issue with his tracker at the same place. He lapped me 6 times, but I ended up beating him

  • Don’t know, can’t see the entries for the 5k. I find the Diamond League website(s) quite frustrating to be honest.

  • Will give it a listen. The title of that podcast has always put me off listening to it. Is it any good?

  • Interesting. I was definitely lapping people. Gonna manually count the lines now :p

  • I like it, they've been getting a good range of guests lately including some more serious in-depth interviews with various people such as coaches, medical professionals or officials along side the usual running "celebs" and characters. Their research can be a bit thin sometimes and most of the time they try to keep it light hearted and refer to in jokes a fair bit but is my go to running pod. They do two pods a week, one general chat and one interview so you don't have to listen to the banter side if all you want is the interviews.

  • Is this pair of shoes toast? And if not, how can I mend it?

  • Saucony Rides? Are they relatively new? I had this happen to a similar pair last year. I binned mine. I think a model to avoid.

  • I can’t see it making a difference to running functionality though? Just looks a bit crap.

There was a thing a few years back where people would cut open the toe box on their shoes to get some extra space, which was far more dramatic than this but didn’t appear to affect the shoes

  • I've not tried it, but you could have a look at https://www.pairups.co.uk/ ?

  • ^that fantastic elastic glue is pretty good for this kind of fix.

  • Depending on age, I’d contact the manufacturer, Nike have been fantastic in the past when I’ve had broken shoes…

  • Thanks all. Yes, Saucony Ride 15s, with 800km on the dial. They still look great aside from this tear, including the sole. It would feel really wasteful to bin them and not use them as daily walking shoes — can’t have my socks hanging out the front of them though!

  • I know a couple of people who use Shoe Goo to substantially increase the life of their running shoes. Not used it myself.

Love my Saucony Ride 15 (smoother ride than the 13, only other version I've had.) I've not been keeping tabs on mileage but durability looks to be excellent. Only ever had that kind of tear with some Hokas, which was annoying cos they were really comfy.

  • I had some Adidas XC spikes that ripped like that. I think they were 2 seasons old, to be fair, and they had been through the mill a bit. I don't think I ever cleaned them, or if I did, it was only once or twice.

I binned them - didn't fancy running around a muddy field with spikes on one foot, and half a shoe on the other

  • Salomon 2 in 1 running shorts look the business, but are they perhaps a bit over engineered?

  • Diamond league is pure 🔥 🔥 🔥 tonight!

  • Man V Horse today with temperatures reaching 25c which I found tough.
Great race (1st time) with some very steep ascents and descents and a number of different surfaces (rocks/slate/mud/grass/forest roads/river crossings) to contend with.
Trail running poles would probably have been ideal for this terrain and saw a number of runners with them at the finish.

  • Women’s 5k was insane.

  • Yeah - Hodgkinson looked so good too.

Once Gidey dropped off I thought that was it as Kipyegon seemed happy to just sit there but then she just applied the 🚀 final lap same pace as her 1500m WR !

Ingibritsen didn’t even make it onto the bbc programme!

  • LLHM ballot open now. Free to enter, only pay if you get a spot.

Better route than the Big Half.

(Entered, but I've been referred to knee surgeon for an MRI to check on medial meniscus from my MCL tear. Unlikely anything is wrong but there being a small chance is a bit annoying.)

  • Interval session at lunch time today, perhaps I should have gone out this evening instead, bloody melting!

  • Anyone here interested in an unworn pair of Walsh PB racers size 10 ? Bought for a event which ended up being cancelled.
