  • I have thought about this, even wondered about somehow strapping his crate to the front, however, this would still allow a certain freedom of moment, and a sudden shift of 30kgs off centre one way or the other is a shock to the system! I bought a special full length mountain dog harness for him which has tether points right along the full length of his body, but found short of strapping him down so hard he can’t move, I’m still faced with the same problem. Pretty sure strapping him down so he’s immobile isn’t going to be much fun for him either.

  • I quite often fantasize about getting a cargo bike to lug my dog around in. I think your experience is probably closer to what my reality would be! My dog is also around 30kg and although generally well behaved, I can imagine her lurching around unexpectedly if she sees another dog she wants to say hello to or just trying to jump off to chase a fox. In my fantasy a Bullitt seems like a better bet due to the lower centre of gravity but I wonder how much difference it would actually make.

  • I would say the bullet will be more stable as the weight is behind the wheel rather than on it, and the wheelbase is longer.
I’ve got a video I was filming with one hand on the bars while riding with Ted on the front through a really scenic bit of woodland that ends in ted spotting a squirrel. I’ll try and upload it. It summarises everything above!
