maybe caused by the nipple
If I'm reading the image right, that looks like delamination probably caused by a localised overload, e.g. kerb or pothole strike. Probably terminal.

Swapped components from my caad 4 to this, fits me way better even though its apparently a size smaller...
Planning on getting a 1x chainring, but just threw this together as a test. Shifting is working perfectly at the moment, but I am getting a slight grinding sound from the rear derailleur area. Freewheel seems fine, could it just be cross chaining? This is my first attempt at setting up gears so I'm a little out of my depth - edit: having ridden this round the block, seems fine.

Son's move to bigger bike now complete. He liked my GT project so much that he wanted something similar for himself.
The bars worked out really well. Not sure the paint on them will hold up, but it is good for now. Hopefully we can get in some light touring together this summer.

& @Rodolfo: did the freehub 7 to 11 speed conversion now: I bought a Deore FH-T610 hub for its parts, and then had to move the spokes on the drive side about 2,5 mm to the right / frame. Now there's a 11 speed cassette on the freehub and the wheel in the middle of the frame =) I am happy! Could have done a complete new wheel, but looking at this old silver Deore hub is also great.

Thanks! Wish I had the black and white version so I could wear the matching jersey

That's fun! It's older than I thought, even from before the helmet era

Pub bike unfettered and alive for a few days before I ruin it with a basket and front brake. Strong #myfirstfixie vibes

Nice, was tempted by those wheels but have no need for it!

First outing for this. Not yet finished: still needs some front derailleur tinkering, saddle feels like it might be a touch too nose down, sort spacer stack / cut steerer, and worst of all I fucked up and cut the front brake hose too short so that will need to be redone and bled and blah blah blah. But it’s done enough that I could do a quick 10 miles on it. First impressions are pretty good. Big thing left to decide is bar tape - play it safe with black, or court controversy by introducing some complementary colour. Teal, maybe?

Gonna turn this into a ratty pub bike / runaround. Bit of 10 speed XT, dropper post, 2.5” extraterrestrials on stupid heavy rims. Probably canti rack and basket eventually.

Put this back together for track riding as my usual Dolan is a bit boring.
Quite ratty up close which I like.
SPDs as my SPD-SL shoes are toast.

Well this came together a lot more quickly than expected. Brakes need bleeding and seems like the pads / rotors are contaminated as they do fuck all. Cables & steerer will need a chop eventually.
Fun tho. Feels like a big BMX. Will be good for chucking around town and pootling back from the pub on.

Really good find. Looks great fun.
Terrible picture, but just spotted all sorts of wiggly bumps on a carbon rim, maybe caused by the nipple. Is it a write-off?
