You want?

my friend teaches in berlin every other week, maybe a box in a plane is doable

• #29
Oh.
Stop the engines! -

😮

I mean, paying for a bike box at easyJet should be about the price of shipping stuff like this pre Brexit?
And if we gave said friend paperwork showing 70£ payment they might not go to prison. -
• #33
I'm sure easyjet's fee for a large suitcase isn't friendly and akin to shipping it.
I don't know how bad import taxes can get -
• #35
Shipping is like 80£ I would think.
-
• #36
I'm happy with whatever. I can also deliver to Deptford.
But to double check, you know that the seatpost doesn't stay up on its own and it needs a new mech hanger right? Also that there is a rough but functional carbon repair to the seatpost clamp area.
-
• #37
Was trying to find all your sweary posts about the clamp to see where its at exactly. Probably not where you want it LoL.
Plan is to bond the post to the frame, I imagine it to end up looking look like a creaky isp with a swollen knee. I have a good mask and am good at gluing stuff. This ofc makes no sense, but I have a steel 650b thing thats somehow redundant because I have the Stooge now to pootle through woods, and the nice roadie Yates from on here that is just too race bike for Berlin sand.
So sell yates, dismantle velo orange, put stuff on italian plastic, grow beard = success. It's the post mount version, yes?
-
• #39
Lol sounds sick
Yeah, post mount.
I have spare Force 1x11 groupset or a single Hope RX4 mineral oil but not a pair -
• #40
Would a quill type seatpost, which expands into the frame be an option for this?
Probably not recommended under normal circumstances in a carbon frame but as it’s damaged anyway? -
• #41
Yes probably but with the aero shape seatpost it would probably be more difficult to engineer than it's worth
-
• #42
Cheers thanks 👍🏻 let me know!

• #43
Also awaiting the end of the dramatic saga. Hope for the sake of all involved that this frame gets smuggled into Germany by a friend of a friend.
I’m in Vauxhall so a potential easier collection, but I can go on holiday somewhere and have you ship it to me for the entertainment factor.

I paid, so if anyone (wanted to make joke about boats and canal but not funny at all) either has the best tricks for shipping, or wants to take the thing on a plane for expenses plus something nice in Berlin, please say hello!
-
• #45
If @ShutUpNoRest wants to get my caad 10, can even be a x2 frames bundle shipped out
-
• #46
I think it might be unfair to blame Italians for this one, it's non other than Dutch Gerard Vroomen (ex cervelo) who designed this thing.
I've got a mate with one and it's got the delightful feature of if the chain drops, it wedges itself so tight between the bb shell and chainring than you need to DIY a crank removal to get home. Fun times. -
• #47
I won't touch it with a barge pole if your plans fail.
Looks fun though, a bit eh, different, then the VO -
• #48
Maybe?
Drill two holes right through the seat tube and seat post above the point where the seat stays join, parallel to the bottom bracket. Put a couple of bolts through the seat tube and seat post to hold the seat post in place. -
• #49
There is a lot of nice in Berlin, can I choose?
-
• #50
If it I involves naughty things I am in too!
No worries, yeah I'm sure it's probably a hassle. Thanks Brexit.
