Yeah already been down that path.

No good?

+1 it's really not that difficult

Hmm. It's been ok since Alex came back and fixed it up.
The guy who was filling in for him while he was away was not great. I had problems with the motor, and then the battery.
So I am verging on giving it a go myself sometime.
But I don't think it's possible to put a Bafang into a Christiana, is it?

Ah shit you might be right actually, it looks like a mid-drive motor probably isn't going to work.
Maybe my hastily-purchased Christiania wasn't the right bike.

Hey what's the forum hive mind front-loader of choice? We're moving the berlin and need something that can move two kids and be a general city vehicle. We have a yuba supermarche which has been great, aside from a few annoyances with the enviolo. That bike can't come with us, the journey is a bit too long

Bafang should work on Christiania, why do you think it wouldn't?
-
• #11561
Apparently it's the frame shape - the motor doesn't fit under or above the BB without some kind of banging about and welding:

A colleague did his and didn’t need any welding specifically. Just some minor modification to the motor shell itself.
The newer casing design is much smaller, so avoids the issues posted.Personally though, I’d just rebuild the wheel with a hub motor and some Alpine spokes and you’re good to go.

I'll DM you - you sound like a very useful person to know!

I thought it was something to do with the shape of the frame around the bottom bracket, that it wouldn't be possible to install a Bafang because of it. YouTube not giving up any examples of installations. I've got a massive hangover now and can't think straight but later this week I'll take some pics of ours and if someone could draw where the Bafang would go on it I'd appreciate it. Without the frame being ground down or drilled. Where does the battery mount even?

Lengthened the wheel base a bit more

How many links in that chain?
-
• #11568
236 links. Just enough that you can't get away with two chains and have to buy a third one!

Hi cargo people, I'm hoping to join your cult soon... Won an eBay auction for that monster, which I'm hoping to use for short distance school pickup/drop-off, short-ish distance weekend outings etc.
Bike was relatively cheap, bidders have probably been put off by the vaguery of the description and poor photos, I took a bit of a risk.
Not sure I'll be able to ride this back from Wembley to Beckenham (I love a challenge, but, crikey!) partly because of the distance and also the fact seller says a service of needed... So I was wondering if you thought I could fit this in our avensis estate, by removing the wheels as handlebars... Any thoughts?
Thanks all!

With enough rope and a hi viz vest hanging off the back anything is possible.

Pedal me avec trailer ?

Probably go in sideways with a few bits taken off. Just keep taking stuff off until it goes in. Spanners and Allen keys, and straps like Chaley says.

cargo…cult
I see what you did there.

Amazing... I'd not even realised.
Years since I played this, just listened to it now and I love it possibly more than when I first heard it. Saw Vannier's re playing the whole album in the Barbican 10-12 years ago, with various singers... Rock around the bunker, almost literally.

I can definitely strip BB shell threads
