I wouldn’t bother with hand sewing, just open up the line of stitches on the side where the bias binding tape is at the top edge of the bag. It’ll take some work but you should be able to squeeze it onto a home sewing machine making sure that the floating liner is out of the way under the free arm. Then sew on your pocket and when you’re done re-stitch the bias binding tape.

I've got a Big X Top rando bag which is excellent, love it, but want to add a pocket on the top for my phone / snacks to easily keep at hand. Something like those elasticated mesh pockets.
I've messaged Jordan to see if I can post it back and get one added, but in case he can't, has anyone done anything similar on one of their bags? It's got a Floating liner I'd like to keep separate, so maybe hand sew something on?
