  • Darwin Brasserie up in the walkie talkie might be a good option.
Decent food, amazing views, visit to the Sky Garden after. Feels like an occasion.

  • Some excellent suggestions here folks, really appreciate it!

  • Had lunch at Bouchon Racine today. Really, really good.

My youngest is such a foodie. Whenever she visits London, always somewhere different and interesting. I think working at Arabica in Borough Market opened her eyes and taste buds to different flavours.

Sri Lankan cuisine with bold flavours. We had Hot butter Cuttlefish, Yellow Monkfish curry, Pol Sambol, Dhal, Hoppers. Washed down with Lion Beer..

Slap, bang in Soho, behind Carnaby St. Highly recommended

  • Noted. That looks banging.

  • Same here!?
Usually head to Laksa Mania if in the area but that looks a good call.

  • @mashton @Mr_Smyth great service too, we pre-booked, dined at 12pm not crowded, we had 90minutes which was plenty time. Next door to Dishoom.

  • Going to Buckingham Palace and need somewhere to eat after.

    Criteria:

    1. Not one of those shit expensive places you get (or used to) near Trafalgar Square
    2. Accessible with two small kids - so bus or not an insaine walk
    3. Small kid friendly - both price and food options. Eldest will eat absolutely anything. Youngest is more fussy, but still OK. It's more speed and the carnage they can bring.
    4. Open today
    5. Oh yeah gluten free options

Chinatown feels like a bit much, both finding somewhere and the journey. That massive mall in Victoria with Nandos, Wagamama, etc.? Was hoping for something more exciting, but we could play our way through St. James and get to the shopping centre.

    Any bright ideas appreciated.

    Cheers.

  • There's a food hall type place in Victoria which might suit everyone?

  • Victoria Market Hall has better food than Nando's and Wagamama - there's a Roti King there and and some other decent options and it's very close.

The Institute of Contemporary Arts on The Mall has/had a really good bistro as well.

The cafe in St James's Park is a Benugo or one of those other expensive ones, so overpriced but with decent sandwiches etc and bonus pelicans.

  • Cheers all. Top intell!

  • The Cafe at Park Sports Hyde park is a good spot mainly because you have the fancy gardens behind to sit in and it's never as busy as the rest of the park. it's not even showing as a cafe on the map but we often go there when in that part of town as we hate crowds and it's less hectic than all the other spots in the park.
the coffee is decent enough too.

  • Victoria Market Hall was closed.

    Went to Zizzis 🤦‍♂️

Carnage and a chicken milanese thick enough to be in a KFC Zinger Tower burger.

Olives, calamari and ice cream were nice though.

  • looking to book an italian resturant for partners birthday not silly expensive. happy to travel in london for it. the one i was going to book has burnt down :(

  • Haven't been but hear nothing but good things about Manteca

Which reminds me, I have a voucher at Trullo that need to use

  • ta will have a look :)

  • Trullo, Luca, Manteca, Bocca Di Lupo,

  • Ta ✌️

  • Diwana on Drummond Street don't do a buffet any more but pointed me to Chutney's which they said is their sister restaurant.

I went yesterday as part of my "places I need to eat again before I move out of London" and I really don't think there's anywhere in London where you can eat better for under £10.

(If there is, I'd be really keen to hear about it, especially if it's a vegetarian buffet).

  • I’ll ask here : I’ve got about 2 weeks to find somewhere nice to eat in Nottingham or Derby. Family event. Older parents so noise is a problem. 2 kids. 6 adults.

Classic / simple / chips or potato should be available.

  • For family events we often end up at World Service.

Pre Forest games or cricket we eat at this Italian place near Trent Bridge.

  • Finally made it to Caravel yesterday. Really really good food, and they've got another boat next to it with a bar (Bruno's).

  • I’ve been told world service is a no already (sigh) lastoria looks good

  • Have you had the Ethiopian food from Kaffa Coffee in Dalston? £8, big portion and AMAZING.

  • No I haven't - not yet at least. I've been to Andu just down the road which was very good.
