I say I'm doing a long ride and they ask, are you riding with others, and I then say, well, kind of. Then try and explain it's just a bunch of checkpoints we have to hit within a certain time, and it's more about survival than "winning".

Mostly other people aren't interested anyway; in case they are you're lacking story telling skills?

To add re fixie audax UK membership, if people are and aren't affiliated with any other club, I'd suggest making your club LFGSS, for literal fixie points.
