You've now got literal capital T TERFS just coming in to name-drop trans cyclists and harass them.
Needless to say, all these fence-sitting men, listening to the voices of a couple women, whilst slamming their ear-defenders on every single time a trans person speaks up in this thread have also contributed to this.
Stop sitting on the fence, playing devils advocate, claiming to be the moral adjudicator because you read one fucking article on biased studies.
You're either supporting trans people, or you're a part of the problem.
Much appreciation and love to all of those people who have been standing up for the right thing, as a trans person sitting on this thread, y'all provide a glimmer of hope that this place isn't just a burning pile of shit <3

aaaAAANNNDD... so what you're saying is that no sportsperson would want to put their all into trials and * checks notes * this particular trans cyclist differs why?
There have already been various studies which evidence that transgender women's ability is comparable to cisgender womens. E.g. This study found that in a study of eight transgender women's performance decreased after starting hormone therapy - with their performance being comparable to cisgender womens. , This study found that that transgender women who had been on hormone therapy for at least one year had similar muscle mass and strength to cisgender women , there's more studies, but something gives me an inling you're not really the type to actually care about those.
Fundamentally - transgender women are women - so they should compete in women's sports. It's not like many people hold genetic advantages naturally who are allowed to complete regardless anyway, oh wait! No one cared until some people got riled up over the prospect of someone's genitalia not being the same as other racers...

Actually
https://bjsm.bmj.com/content/55/15/865
This one is a study / systematic review of 24 studies. After trawling 4 databases.
It’s these things that are needed and I’m about to read it.
Also from Loughborough, home of the sports science.I’m going to guess it’s fear of saying the wrong thing, I hope, that’s making lots of people on here not say anything. Not because of being banned, but because of the instant polarised view point being applied to them.
As a cis white hetero dude with the world built for me, I don’t want anyone to hurt.
I can see why women want women only spaces and I would also advocate for any one wanting space away from the fucking oppressive bullshit of not being a white cis hetero.I’m pretty sure most centrist dads like me, I don’t think I am but I bet I am, can see that not recognising someone for who they say they are is oppressive. All the bullshit of that.
And we can all see the bullshit of the state police and how it’s not safe for anyone other than those in power. It’s clear that this is being used in the same way as racism and homophobia are/were to keep people fighting. Rather than changing the problems at the top.
But, this is new - it’s not though is it really?Competition rules can be changed but everyone needs to be listened to right? Unless they’re screaming hate. And this is where if you want an ally you need to help me find what is “dog whistle hate speech” and what is “well that sounds reasonable for a woman of about my age and their lived experience”
I still don’t think I as a man should have much input when it comes to “what is the other category” for sports competition. Because as a man, my category will (unless there’s bigger change) be protected whatever I say.

I’m not being a weasel with words. I have kids, this is going to be on my radar because their generation is going to experience this. I need help to understand and appreciate the shitty tricks that are going to be played on them.

Fucking hell the TERFs have arrived (in reference to the person who registered and posted awful stuff before being banned and having their posts deleted).
OK. Let me put this plain.
Transphobia is hate speech, I am going to now ban a few people... and I'm locking this thread.
The only one who gets off by the skin of her teeth is brokenbetty (because honestly, I respect that she's engaging and rational)... but @brokenbetty I'll be very explicitly clear. I do consider your views to be transphobic and if they appear on this forum again I will ban without warning or regret (because it is opening the flood gates for TERFs and I won't move an inch on that).
To everyone: Please read up on intersectional feminism and perhaps this https://www.vox.com/the-highlight/2019/5/20/18542843/intersectionality-conservatism-law-race-gender-discrimination .
If your feminism isn't intersectional, then it's not feminism.
Which means you support ALL women, including trans women, black women, poor women, disabled women... everyone... and you'll sometimes find yourself fighting for the rights of black people, gay people, etc. This is what intersectional feminism means, this is what feminism is.
If you find your flavour of feminism isn't that, then it's exclusionary... it's a hate speech, and I am banning for it. Feminism is about egality for the collective womenhood, for all women. It places the collective above the individual. If your feminism only fixes things for you and not all women, it probably isn't feminism.
Why won't I allow debate on this... because TERF views being openly accepted are a Nazi bar situation:
https://twitter.com/IamRageSparkle/status/1280891537451343873
I was at a shitty crustpunk bar once getting an after-work beer. One of those shitholes where the bartenders clearly hate you. So the bartender and I were ignoring one another when someone sits next to me and he immediately says, "no. get out."
And the dude next to me says, "hey i'm not doing anything, i'm a paying customer." and the bartender reaches under the counter for a bat or something and says, "out. now." and the dude leaves, kind of yelling. And he was dressed in a punk uniform, I noticed
Anyway, I asked what that was about and the bartender was like, "you didn't see his vest but it was all nazi shit. Iron crosses and stuff. You get to recognize them."
And i was like, ohok and he continues.
"you have to nip it in the bud immediately. These guys come in and it's always a nice, polite one. And you serve them because you don't want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.
And then THEY bring friends and the friends bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh shit, this is a Nazi bar now. And it's too late because they're entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.
And i was like, 'oh damn.' and he said "yeah, you have to ignore their reasonable arguments because their end goal is to be terrible, awful people."
And then he went back to ignoring me. But I haven't forgotten that at all. That's how I see the debate too... the people this place attracts by giving an inch here are not welcome. I won't run this place for those people, and the people I do want to run this place for are the people that are going to fight for the rights of others... intersectional feminism over trans-exclusionary radical feminism, and seriously... no war but class war.
... Get to fuck you speccy cunt. Take your shit elsewhere.
context since @user155623 would rather edit their comments than back their opinions up: OP posted a shitely edited star wars meme, naming a trans cyclist and implying that she deliberately downplays her abilities in trials
