An absolute beauty, I love them. Enjoy wearing it!
At some point I'll get a 19j Imperial because I love the dials and also a 25j Everest auto with the later case, then I think I'll be all smithed out

Thanks! I’m on the hunt for a 25j auto also - in silver preferably. Have just this morning got this slightly battered imperial 19j for £100, which can’t be bad. Now MUST stop…

Very nice, that's a bargain
The black Imperials always remind me of the later black Deluxe faces.
There is a steel Everest on Merrens site, but spendy

Yeah prices on there are loopy. This one reasonable, boxed and with papers etc. not my ideal style, but you might like it? https://thevintageshowroom.com/product/1960s-smiths-everest-automatic-gold-plated-watch/

Looking at the zulu driver straps, for my seiko kinetic military, like the look of the italian rubber. The strap is about 50% of the cost of the watch a decade ago. Reckon it'll refresh it though and a new lease of life.
They seem to be pretty well rated, any thoughts?

Pretty sure I have a blue one of those in 20mm you could have for a lot less.

Anyone tried these elastic Zulu straps? Any comments on longevity? And could you just pull it on and off without unfastening the buckle? Looks like they could be really comfy and very affordable

Was trying to swap out the jubilee to an oyster but it didn't work out, so tried a Tudor NATO and think it works quite well..

Pro Trek still going strong after a year of daily wear. Hit 4100m a few days ago but it was pissing down and I couldn’t feel my fingers so no photo.

My bday is approaching and family wants to gift a sub £500 watch.
I'm, atm, into indipendent watch makers, and dials with numerals.
Any hints?I'd also getting a Baltic off my partner which is nice :)

It's not an "independent" but I can get you a tissot PRX automatic close to that figure.
Fabulous watch, much loved On here. -

Like ejay, was gonna says Tissot PRX.
Or a Hamilton Khaki (not microband thought).
-
• #72345
I own one and also vote for the PRX

I was going to say Baltic. I had a hands-on with the silver dial MR-01 a couple of days ago and I liked it more than I was expecting to.
The Yema Urban Field is over budget unfortunately.
Paulin Neo would fit the bill but they're constantly out of stock.
PRX is a lot of bang for the buck.
Seiko are Seiko, you either dig them or you don't, but the Ruby colourway of the Style 60s Presage is one of my favourite sub-£500 watches.

That and the SKX-style GMTs.
And combining the Style 60s design with the GMT movement has spawned a really nice watch IMO, not seen it IRL yet though.

I had the 300 version of the strap (non-patterned one). I wore it on my Panerai and it was my favourite strap for it. Comfy, didn't attract dust and looked smart. Wore it for everything.
Would have unconditionally recommended but, after about 4 years of usage, the spring bar end failed (basically the bar snapped through the rubber) which could have been nasty but it happened in the house and managed to catch the watch. It was always a tight fit getting the Pammy's spring bars into the strap when changing, so the failure may have been caused by my weakening / widening the hole over time.I'd still have replaced it in a heart beat but the strap price has trebled (i paid £35!) so am still debating whether to get a new one (or just two replacement bands as the deployant is fine). There used to be a standard 10% off code for WatchGecko stuff as well that helps a bit.
Nice. This San Martin milsub homage I got on singles day has been getting alot of wrist time the the last few months. Really comfortable dimensions on my wrist.
