I've got backup hair in a box in Australia from when I grew it down to my arse as a teenager.
That's my 'growing old disgracefully' backup plan. It looks cool but long hair is fricken annoying and I'm totally blaming it for that 299mi 12hr... -

I'd be interested to see your waterproof shorts. I really like my Gore-Tex Active Trail Shorts (these I think: https://www.gorewear.com/en-uk/c5-gore-tex-paclite-trail-shorts-100574/ I paid £60 for mine but they're now £150 :S).
I lost a pair during TransAm and bought another pair because they work well. They're very light and simple and so pack down well. A bit tight and they make a swooshy noise when riding but comfortable to wear a long time. I wish they had a pocket so when I was wearing them 'casually' I could stick my wallet and phone in them.
Cool story bro...

Vest arrived, there is a lot going on. Loads of loops and adjustability in the fasteners to move it about. It is quite long in the back but no more than my regular hydration vest. I'm not a massive back pocket person but they are still usable and accessible. I went with orange, I am not telling my partner how much I spent on what they will think is a hi-vis vest. But I'm happy with it.

I don't suppose anyone has any spare patches from an Albion repair kit (or know if anyone else does them?) they are out of stock on their website.
I managed to put a rather unfortunate hole in my bibs with a mtb pedal when carrying my bike down some stairs at the weekend, definitely one in a location to patch before wearing them again!

I've got one I can pop in the post, its last years '12 hours of may' repair patch graphic if that makes it better/worse.

• #1282
That would be amazing, obvs happy to chuck you a few quid/donate to forum etc
-
• #1283
No need to chuck me anything. Pm your address and I'll stick it in the post.

possibly a dumb question, but the last few times I’ve been riding with the pertex jacket stuffed into the back pocket of my bibs, I keep having the thought that the sweat transfer onto the jacket can’t really be doing wonders for the waterproofing coating on it, and that maybe I should avoid carrying it there for long periods of time.
Does that seem about right or is it not a worry? @Chopsicle

Are lightweight jerseys still in the pipeline?
-
• #1287
Thank you and I did in fact buy that exact combination!

Insulated gilet fit true to size for cycling gear or for "normal" gear? I have the medium in the insulated Zoa if that's a useful comparison.
-
• #1289
Medium in the insulated jacket, small in the lightweight zoa. If that helps.
-
• #1290
Zoas are true medium . Holding out its never cold enough to wear it again !

Assuming Pertex is similar construction to Goretex, sweat and oils can cause delamination of the layers. You definitely want to be washing the jacket regularly in a tech wash.

Bought some reduced 2021 bib shorts (https://www.albioncycling.com/products/abr1-bib-shorts-black-men?Size=S) but the pad feels surprisingly thin.
Is it just me? Are they now using a thicker one?
Possibly I've just got used to having my arse cosseted by Rapha but thought they'd be similar and I'm not really getting on with them so far...

Don’t think they’ve changed the pad. My 2020 shorts have a blue pad and my newest pair have an orange one, but it feels the same to me.

My ice dye t shirt is on its last legs… any chance of a rerun??
-
• #1295
That reminds me, I haven't seen mine in a while. If you happen to be a medium I can sell you it if I can track it down?

• #1296
Pertex-with-no modifiers isn't similar to Goretex at all, and neither IIRC is the Pertex Quantum used in the wind jacket. The worst thing likely to happen to these is that they won't breathe well if the weave is clogged with oil, or they'll wet out faster if the DWR is affected.
The Pertex Shield in the rain jacket is 3-layer, so could possibly delaminate.

Should we start a list? :D

Can anyone comment on packability of:
- New Pertex “Shield” rain jacket
- 3.0 rain jacket
Much appreciated!

No real comment, but I wish every place that advertises their clothes as “packable” or “small enough to fit in a pocket” had a picture of it packed away in that state.

Likewise!
dunno how long it's going to stay, so enjoying it while it lasts!
