  • I’d definitely get that bare aluminium on the dropouts sorted, before you know it it’ll start flaking off like dandruff.

  • That is a beauty

  • Looks beaut! Cleaned up nicely. Is there any actual damage or debonding between the ally and carbon?

  • Did you manage to save the post? If it's dead and you dont need it I'd be interested in the clamps as mine broke years ago.

I've got a similarly aged C40, and mine looks exactly the same around the drop outs I've ridden mine for about 8000 miles with no issues.

  • @Chellis88 no there’s no debonding you can just see where the join is. I think it was the dusty corrosion on the surface of the aluminium breaking through the paint that the seller had seen. Once I scrapped all the loose paint and corrosion off it looks good to me. So I’m pretty happy 🤞 and that’s also reassuring @mustardbeak 👍 I’ll have a closer look at the post but it came out in one piece after an overnight soak in plusgas and a sharp twist 😊 if it is damaged sure thing I’ll let you know 👌

  • My very ratty Decor, has taken quite a beating over the years

  • Nice find buddy ! Can’t beat a diamond in the rough

  • Strip, clean, rattle can dropouts then spent a lovely sunny and very satisfying afternoon yesterday putting it back together. First spin this morning, think I’m in love ❤️

  • That's a cracking turnaround, would not have expected it and the components to scrub up so well!

  • The aim was to get it rideable with not much more than the minimum time and cash so I could take for a spin and see from there. The components all seem functional and there’s some pitting etc in a few places but yeah came up pretty well. Even the cables, inner tubes and chain are what were on it 😊. Tbh it doesn’t seem like it had many miles on it before someone abandoned it after a particularly wet muddy ride 🙄

    Thx @getoutofbed 👍

  • Just picked up this very frameset yesterday. In good condition. Will be sticking Athena 11 and zondas on it. Love the paint job on it

  • That’ll be a beaut once fully built. I have planned on throwing a similar Athena groupset on this frame but kitchen/baby/life etc

  • Well done.

  • How worried would you be about this ding, I guess you can’t really see from the pic but a shallow dent under the ‘a’

  • Not in the slightest

  • thanks, fingers crossed that's the only one...

  • Very nice! Deserves some nicer bars...

  • Cheers @kjlem

So I seem to have now procured a ratty 1st gen Master ‘10 times world champion’ with DA 7400. I think I’m just going to embrace the rattiness…

  • Yes, the fbmp algorithms know me well

  • Tweaked the cockpit on the C40 and cut the steerer down a bit, serviced and replaced some broken/missing headset parts courtesy of @retrodicorsa 🙏

Giving a stuck stem a soaking on the Master 🤞
