  • Ah, gotcha. If you try and start a returns process they’ll probably let you know how/if they want to receive it. Might send a courier to collect?

  • Has anyone ever come across efficient, foolproof, comprehensible or logical public handwashing facilities?
    I thought not.
Take this one; look at the positions of the functions and try to guess if the soap comes out on the left, centre or right. “A-ha, it’s a trick question” you say. “You want me to say right because it’s the opposite of where the text ‘soap’ is. But I’ve used this sort of thing before and know that it’s…… The middle!”
    ERRRG - ERRRRRRRR! Wrong!

  • So your rant is...that the soap comes out of the area marked soap?

Or is it shot out of a fourth, unmarked opening?

  • .

  • Wallgate scandal not quite on par with the other gates tbh

  • I’d guess at the big blue arrow

  • Sure someone can pop over and help with the petrol lawn mower.

  • Is there a thread to remind people, as you lot are as old if not older than me, should be having regular screenings for bowel issues.

  • No. To the right. Who’d a guessed?

  • @teenslain is that you?

  • Yes

If only there was still rep I'd give you all of mine.

  • @teenslain is that you?

    if not older than me

    Obviously not.

  • Medway council matrix signs on the way to junior parkrun this morning "Think bike, think car. Look after each other."

Maybe just me, but think car? What a bunch of cunts sticking that up.

  • My local cemetery is doing my head in, just found out if we want to bring our own headstone we need to apply for a permit for the price of 600€. Last week a got a letter telling us to remove the stones we placed around the grave, we’d been collecting them from the countryside, the grave is fresh so these were only used until we can put in the headstone (4-6weeks more) and to stop the earth washing away (we planted a few flowers until the headstone goes in). For this I’ve been charged 500€ for removal and replacement with a plastic border. At a time when folk are at a low point they really seem to put the boot in. That’s my rant is what it is

  • Shitty. Where are you out of interest?
We worried that we'd get told off for having a scruffy plot, adding plants and a wonky wooden border, and not replacing the temporary name marker with a proper headstone (we still intend to, just haven't got round to it) but instead 9 years on we seem to have started a trend for scruffy planting in the local cemetery vicinity.

  • I’m in Berlin, first time doing it in Germany so a few hurdles that I didn’t expect. It’s not scruffy as such, we just didn’t want a pile of earth with nothing there for the time you have to wait until the ground is firm.

  • It sounds like the system is rather unsympathetic. We had water rats or some other kind of small creature constantly "earth moving" for a while creating holes and mounds but they seem to have relocated. I think the council here is fine so long as the plot looks cared for.

  • I'd just like a quick rant about parking.

I inherited my father in laws MGB. I don't really drive it - I have not put petrol in it for the last 12 months. At some point, when time and finds allow, I would like to restore it, maybe take it on a European tour.

In the meantime, I park it in a residents bay. Last year, my parking permit from Greenwich Council was £100.00. This year - based on emissions (!) - it's gone up to £300.00.

I'd just like to say, whoever came up with that idea is a cunt. Thank you.

  • Tbf, based on emissions, it should be about a grand.

Unless things have changed since I owned an MG Midget (you can call them that), the MOT emissions test is literally 10x as lenient for 1970s/early 80s classic. And in a lot of cases, the tester will just make sure there isn’t too much black smoke on flooring the throttle.

  • Tbf, based on emissions, it should be about a grand.

Only if I drive it, which I don't.

If I do get round to restoring it, will replace the engine with something kinder to the environment.

  • They’re not going to bring in means-tested* parking prices though.

    *mileage-tested

If you do restore it, and you need any advice, let me know! They’re incredibly simple cars to work on.

  • Although most modern cars externally communicate distance travelled, so it's becoming achievable.
