Good one!
On a separate note, looks like you have a car seat in there? Would you care to show / explain how you attached it and how it works out?
I have a 8 months kid and I’m thinking of something similar.

Yep - two ratchet straps through the rails that would otherwise clip into an isofix base. Sat on top of a square of high density foam to give a bit of sponge to compress into.

Anyone got experience with Gaya e-cargo/kid carriers?
https://gaya.bike/
Looking for a 1 kid suitable bike to share with my wife. Assuming Tern/Benno is out of budget, what else should I be looking at? Mycle? Radwagon? Btwin?
Will we regret not getting a high-end one over the long-term? -

If budget is a concern i would go second hand, likely still get more nike for the money. Buying used we saved about 70% versus new. As long as they are not trashed and you do maintenance it should last. And if you are riding in weather consider the accessories available.

Seen plenty of radwagons, apart from the size and weight (they are biggest of the long tails I've seen so far), for £2k or whatever they cost really they are pretty decent. the stock mechanical brakes aren't awesome, but less than £100 to put a set of tektro hydraulics on it. Not fancy but also not junk.
Be wary of a lot of 'new comers' to the market have glossy websites but the bikes are pretty pap.
Radwagon has a weird tyre size. Main reason tyres were failing was due to cheap rubber band type spoke hole protection/rim tape, that TBH more than half of all bikes use. At least they stumped up and made the effort to get new tyres made, shipped to customers and did something about the problem. Many of these newcomer start up's will just fold and leave the customers and dealers hanging.

I wouldn't be buying anything with a weird or obscure tyre size. That's just asking for trouble long-term.
Also think about resale value. You'll sell on a secondhand Bullit/Tern/Christiania literally within minutes for exactly what you paid for it. Might be cheap to start with, but what will you get for a Gaya and will it even sell?

What is your budget? There was a Boost on FB for 3.5k. Still not cheap, but may be cheaper in the long run.

Oof that’s a slick build. Someone’s got cash tho - those kickstands are like £400 each! I immediately sacked off any idea of getting one of those.
They do look good with 29” wheels. Altho I like getting all the “look at those cool massive tyres” comments from randoms in the street.

Phrases like “this fucking bangs” are bandied around a lot these days, but…

Absolutely ploughed its way up the steep-ass hill in the park near my house, even in one of the lowest gears. I would die if I tried that on this bike without assistance.
Need to do a bit of cable management and the speed sensor is only working intermittently so need to tweak that. But otherwise: weeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Lookin’ righteous! Tidier than a lot of conversions about.
This blog is real detailed (but readable) and has useful bits on installing and fettling Bafang motors. He’s done a Surly Big Fat Dummy and a Bullitt so ace for the cargo crew.

Budget is more the 2-3k mark rather than 4-5k for a Tern. Not seen any second hand ones at any meaningful discount.
Points taken on unestablished/weird componentry bikes too.
Might go check out a Btwin at Decathlon. Look decent/upgradable.
Cheers all!

Anyone got any e-cargo bike specific wheel bearings?

I'm thinking about getting a Bafang motor kit for my Christiania but I'm short on time/confidence to fit it myself.
Is there somewhere I could get one fitted?
It seems London Green only do the Pendix kit which is £1899.

Besbike will do it for you, not sure how much it will set you back tho.

If you can install a bottom bracket and run some zipties you can install a bafang with an assist from YouTube
Always carry a spare bike
