Some very good decisions made!
And that stem is lovely! -

Thanks!
Front rack is a cheap Vavert one I got years ago for the Varonha, had to shorten and bend the stays to fit mid-fork eyelets. Discontinued product last time I checked. -

Ta!
From eBay, they still have a few. Got my one couple month ago I think it was even cheaper then! -

Ah nice, but unfortunately I really don't need yellow on the pukey neon frame.

all loaded up with gear, plenty of room for all the paniers etc
Tried this today, bit over-equipped as I was only commuting (rear panniers weren't needed really though I could buy some kids cereals during lunch break!).
I really need to reset the Frog Legs cantis with shallower pads, front brakes really don't have the stopping power they should have (I use the same brakes on the Varonha and they work very well). Will try V-brake shoes, this should give a better pulling angle. If not successful I'll use good old Shimano cantis, they sit better with pivots that are closer to each other.

Cuuuute bike! Bags are perfect for it

Ta! I'm in total regression, wanted colourful outer cables and grips like on my shitty (beloved) teenage years MTB...

I've alternative cantis that I know will work, including some Tektros (720 not 710 like yours though), but I'm in love with the look of the frogg legs, so I'll keep trying.
Still have your Campag calipers, still on my Roberts! They are perfect for it.

It's finished! Bit late to the party but that looks great with the yellow stem and lairy cables : )

Not a mad update... Finally fitted mudguards on the bike I'd built for my mum while in France recently. Not that she's using it atm, waiting for hip to get better...

quite envy of this. I'd love to have a sweet grocery-getter step-through

I have to ask, why no v-brake/mini v-brakes?
considering how much power, modulation and less maintenance it have, on paper its a no brainer.

I've seen a few Dawes ones on eBay recently. Old Dawes are sweet bikes!

I've bought a set of Shimano mini-Vs years ago, not as nice looking as the TRPs but quite nice still... one day I'll try them I promise!

I bought a Raleigh Chiltern on eBay. Very cheap. It'll need a bit of love / re greasing throughout, etc. but is otherwise almost perfect, everything original it seems. I'm planning to keep it at work, for lunch break errands on days I've commuted on the motorbike, or so I tell myself (because I only very rarely have time to do anything... Of course I didn't need that bike!). I just had that uncontrollable wish for an old/very basic/cheap bike. Having picked it up tonight, I'm immensely pleased despite the cheapness all round (pressed steel brake calipers, cheap chromed cotter pin cranks, plastic Brooks, etc.
Cheap modest old simple bikes give me so much satisfaction. Not sure why.
