  • Yeah fair but guessing they've just been folded instead of being properly hemmed for him to wear.

  • Yeah suppose so - not heard of them before but look great! Might try a pair

  • yep its owned by a friend of a friend. new suits coming next week; hoping something suitable for some upcoming weddings this year

  • they are actually hemmed. but light work for a tailor to adjust etc.

  • Sure life would be dull if we all agreed on everything! It would also make this a uniform thread rather than a fashion one ;)

Personally I like a low-waisted cropped trouser but I do have somewhat similar proportions to matey in that photo... lots of torso, little leg as evidenced below...

  • I also like a cropped trouser in the italian style, unfortunately last year's barena suit trousers were massacred by an alterations place which has cropped them into almost 3/4 trousers.

I can just about get away with them with white trainers and some tasteful socks, but try a pair of shoes and it's not great. Loafers abroad in summer were ok too.

    Farcical tailoring...

  • As a cheaper option (if belt loops are acceptable) I'm quite happy with these. Fabric is surprisingly thick. Might order another pair in non-slim fit.
My recent experiments in flares and straight denim have been laughed at by Mrs Run but I'm fed up with slim fit.

  • Right then hive mind, save my ass please.

Seven year wedding anniversary - 'Wool'.

What can I buy my wife that's under £100 with next day delivery?

I'm so dumb, I thought I twigged a Mr Porter box arrive on Monday and just thought 'It's not my birthday for months...'

  • Ah fuck, I can sense I'm gonna bottle it and get her a voucher :)

Finisterre women's wear is a bit shit.

  • Some kind of throw or blanket maybe?

  • That's a top shout, they've got really nice wool scarves that are almost like a blanket... a shawl I suppose would be the best descriptor... very nice though!

  • Cheers, nice but pricey! Let’s think more merino, less cashmere, bloody Lufguss ballers.

  • Anyway, it can’t be too soft or they wouldn’t call it the seven year itch…

    gets coat

  • What's your go to daily pair of trouser? I hate buying trousers and never seem to quite get it right. I've settled into wearing a tatty pair of cragghoppers cargo trousers that Mrs hates. Something that will handle jumping on my bike, dadding, DIY and still look ok down the pub. Not jeans.

  • Grease Point Standard Jean is my go to.

  • Either Uniqlo chinos or some stretchy Levi’s chino. I don’t own any jeans either.

  • For dad stuff I have a pair of Levis skate* jeans which are made with codura. Obvs will make raw fetishist cry, but they have been outstandingly strong - far superior to any raw selvedge I've owned.

My beef with a chinos is the slashed-loose-all-the-shit-in-your-pockets, pocket design. Ideally I'd like Uniqlo chinos in a 5 pocket jean config.

*not remotely what my childhood skate jeans were like.

  • Maharishi sno pants. The Ventile ones are fantastic for dog walks etc as they become water resistant once wet. But this is just me returning back to 90’s raver roots.

Winter I like Filson wool trousers because warm, water resistant, and robust.

  • Universal works, beams plus.

  • Call me a wanker (you wouldn’t be the first) but I can’t stand having anything in me trooser pockets.

  • Were do you put your wallet, phone, keys, all the misc sheets of kitchen roll for cleaning and random stones your kids give you?

  • Coat pockets or a bag of some description. I always seem to have a bag.

  • I find that suit jackets are my male equivalent of a handbag.
I even wear old ones while bike tinkering just because I am used to having all the pockets.
Wallet still goes in the back pocket though.

  • I bulk purchased various colours of gramicci in their sale, would fit the bill.
