CAAD10 track has developed a bit of a creak under load. Assuming it's coming from the BB area but will swap out headset, seatpost etc to be sure. These use factory installed BB30 to BSA68 converters. If i do think the creak is coming from there is it safe to press it out and re-install with whatever glue the adaptors come with or are these things essentially fused in from factory?

They're just loctited in, you can press it out and reinstall. FSA make the very same adapter and it comes with a tube of loctite
Edit: there is also an official removal tool which is just two steel tubes. I bought it and removed one on a supersix but then sold on the tool.
My CAAD10 track one needs doing too as it's loose -

I believe they aren't designed to be removed (and I think says that on it) but can be. Uses a semi-permanent Loctite/equivalent.
I'd guess it is pretty rare for the frame-adaptor interface to creak for that reason.

check the track nuts are done up tightly first

Yeah i made my own with a couple... alloy tubes. Still got the tubes but annoyingly just gave back the headset press i borrowed.

The dropouts are another possible candidate, fixed on with allen bolts and the axle engagement isn't exactly smooth. Will double check the nuts first!

Had this about 18 months ago on a customers bike ( same frame, 2016). In the end we got the worn dropout carbon repaired.
If you want to drop me a pm with email I'll forward you before and after and cost of the guy who did it.
Duke have done 8-9k incident free miles since.

Mine creaked like fuck after a couple rides in the rain when I first got it. Replaced the whole thing with a praxis thread-together bb and it'd been fine since.

Nice, can I borrow?

Interesting, maybe it is the convertor then. I like the look of that Praxis thing, i guess the only limitation is i'm stuck with one crank axle type (currently switch between Sugino/Sram). Do they do replacement bearings or do you have to replace the unit when it wears out?

Yarp, don't suppose you've got a press you could bring to mine and we'll do both bikes? Still got that 30mm BB somewhere for you.

• #16038
I think you can replace them, but I haven't needed to in 4 years of not very regular use
-
• #16039
No but maybe I can arrange one

for what it's worth, i have had creaking when using praxis or wheels mfg in an alloy bb30 shell. Cannot rule out user error but it's not fool(me)proof, you need loctite action too. it's foolproof in a carbon bb30 shell however.

Useful and depressing! Oh well, may just as well see if i can reset the OG adapter or failing that replace it with a new FSA.
