What are JV even trying to do here? They rode on the front with the full team and managed to drop their own leader.

I don't know if this has anything to do with Ben Healey's decision, but in triathlon, Lucy Charles Barclay has recently struggled with Brexit rules that limit the amount of time she can spend in the Schengen zone without a visa. She used up most of her time with a couple of big blocks of training and then almost had to skip a race as a result. An Irish passport would solve all those kinds of issues.

I find it crazy she can't get a visa to race as a job.
Rediclous
She should just stick 50k EUR in an Andorran bank and have residency

• #44915
I don't think this is a case. He has Irish passport regardless of the country he is riding for.
-
• #44916
Ah yes, you are probably right.

UAE minus Pog = Movistar. You can't make this shit up. There's a psychiatric intern somewhere out there who has a lot to answer for.

Shame about Roglic but Almeida's quite good looking so all's not lost, though the mask wearing does blunt the edge a bit. And helmet hair really suits Blythe so that's something to look forward to.
-
• #44919
I don't think it's wise to write Roglic off quite yet. I presume you're mentally deleting Almeida's alleged moustache from your assessment. I honestly believe that Almeida should have been viewed as favourite from the start.
Ben Healey is every bit as Irish as much of the England rugby and cricket teams have been English for decades. If he is better supported by Ireland because he doesn't fit the BC automaton with the right numbers mould, fair fucks to him, our loss.

Three weeks of Hatch saying 'on debut' and 'Jaoaoaoa Almeida'.
Yesterday.

[tebbit]What's the deal with obviously English Ben Healy (and Dan Martin) riding on Irish colours?[/endtebbit]
-
• #44922
Also some people with Irish heritage might not be that excited about representing Britain/England on a global stage, which is fair enough.

It's the Wednesday on the final week. If Roglic isn't at his peak now, then his chances of winning the race are diminishing by the hour.
-
• #44924
Yeah I’m not convinced Roglic is out of it yet. Day after rest day cliches aside there are still 3 good opportunities for things to change, 10 seconds a day…. plus Kuss has been used very sparingly.

I think it'd be foolish to write him off just yet, but yesterday does not bode well for his chances of gaining enough time on Thomas and Almeida to win.
But the final time trial is so difficult and so hard to predict, that I think any of the current top three still have a chance of winning. That may change before Saturday, of course, but it does set the race up to be a cliffhanger.
