I could never see them when I lived in Hackney/East Ham, I think I saw that 2 one year and that was it. More bird life where I am now as close to Epping Forest proper, but I find Swifts really evocative as I remember seeing loads of them (along with Swallows and various Martins) when in the garden/park/by the river as a kid, so found myself really wanting to see them again.
