• Negatives of hookless

psi limits and for the most part you cant run tubes if the tubeless fails?

  • this, its pointless, almost as pointless as road tubeless

  • Requested access 👍🏼
    (In, thanks)

  • I can't think of a single real significant reason why anyone would want to go hookless. It's a bag of compatibility hurt.

  • It makes sense on mountain bikes where the pressure limits aren't an issue and the hookless rims are tougher so the rim is less likely to be damaged if you thump it hard against something. For gravel and road bikes, yep, can't see the point.

  • I am on hookless Zipp 303s. 74kg. No issues to report. Wide variety of tyres now available.

  • WRT tyre pressure with the hookless Zipp 303s, the recommended pressure of about 70psi feels pretty rock hard to the thumb. It’s all good.

  • A reminder of the deadline of 5pm tomorrow. At the moment we’re not looking very discount-worthy

  • I've used some, but not those specific bits - but I'd have no hesitation in trying them if they hit my spec / dimensions, etc

I've used a couple of cheap eBay rack packs a lot and have a couple of top tube bags, which are OK but not my favourites. Roswheel used to be very cheap and cheerful but their quality has gone up a lot (and price too!). I used their bar harness + dry bag on a bikepacking trip and it was ideal.

Thanks for the reply. Ended up getting her this from probikekit for the odd occasion she will need it. Arrived and seems reasonable. Can't really go wrong for £15! Decided to get her a nicer (but more expensive) bar bag from Aravis for everyday stuff.

  • Hard not to buy it at that price! Hope it works for her.

  • Interesting chat with the guy from the China cycling Youtube channel about the bike industry
in China. Clears up quite a few things.

  • Granted though you may find it’s too late as Light Bicycle have already invoiced everyone…

  • Ah no worries, late to the party as usual 😂

I'll email them to see what they could do as a discount off a wheelset (probably Falcon Pro)

  • Who were you speaking with from their side?

  • Grace Gao. You should try asking, they’ll probably still honour it if you say you were part of the recent group order and share the same spreadsheet with them!

  • really interesting video, worth a watch - thanks for sharing!

  • Anyone actually ridden the AR25 yet?

  • Does LB really have a 913 gram wheelset? I can't work out which options to choose. https://www.lightbicycle.com/carbon-road-gravel-cx-disc-bike/wheels/700C

  • here is one

  • Thank you. Presumably you could get the weight well under 900 if you built a pair for rim brakes. LB seem to offer the rims but not a build service. Maybe they just don't want to stock the hubs.

Nobody at weightweenies seems to have any experience with the AR25. Are they very new? They have a huge Light Bicycles thread though. I'd have thought they'd have been all over them. But I know less about LB than anyone - just a casual observer. Very interesting business model and history and personnel. Do people expect them to become dominant?

Edit: I'm talking pants, they don't have proper hooks. 70psi limit.

  • 70psi limit

You need to be quite the porker to need more than that with a 30mm+ tyre

  • LB seem to be discouraging road use. How about a 27/28 clincher with a tube, for road use?

  • How about a 27/28 clincher with a tube, for road use?

I've got a 25c GP4000 with a tube on the back of the 464, which comes up to 30mm wide on a rim slightly narrower than the LB AR25, and 5.5bar supports my 105kg. 70psi indicates a 90kg rider on the same width tyre

  • And LB obviously agree with me, max rider weight 90kg, max pressure for a 28C tyre 70psi 😊
