£9.10 !!!!
In my day a pint cost no more than a pound note.

I’m reporting live on that.

Publican told me recently that Guinness is seen as a cheap pint by most drinkers but is actually pretty premium per keg price.
I’m hanging onto the Pembury Tavern where you can get a pint of Five Points for a bit more than a fiver. Railway Porter is also way better than Guinness.

Hmm but they own that pub right(?) and I’m not into 5 points.

£9 in Corrigans, Mayfair when I was in there last week. Not a bad pint for a restaurant though.
-
• #7
You can get it for £1.90 in a ‘spoons. But it is a spoons Guinness.

Fuck my old boots, HOW MUCH!? My boozer of choice in Rye has most ales at around the £4 mark, I'll take a picture on Saturday. When I started drinking (admittedly underage) it was 3 pints to the quid, ok, I am ancient.

Paid £7.25 for a pint of Asahi on Sunday. Kill me.

0% Guiness £4.50 pint on the Isle of Wight at the weekend.

The chances of Guinness poured from a can tasting better than your £6 London pint are pretty high, I'd say! Unless you're in the Auld Shillelagh in Stokey.

My mate - who does continuous quality checking on these things - reckons the Yucatan in Stokey does London’s best pint. Mind you it’s been a while now since I’ve been up that way, or drunk alcohol, so that pub is probably a nailbar or vape shop now.

Nah, still there in all its grimey glory

It all went a bit silly price-wise once the £5 barrier was truly smashed (no idea when that actually was but do remember it being a thing), paired with COVID, paired with cashless and contactless life.
Gibneys Old Street:
Review: Bizarre pub setting but banging pint
Price: £6.45 -

Excellent euphemism for an alcoholic.

Golly. I can’t remember how much a pint was when I gave up- which was 2010. Anyone remember?

Was in Ireland recently (Ballydehob) here’s the history of the price of a pint of Guinness…

Did Guiness price jump when Ireland switched from IEP to Euro in 1999?
from local paper
A pint of Guinness now costs nearly €9 in some Dublin pubs, while punters in Waterford can get one for as little as €4.50.
-
• #19
It’s been reported to me recently as £6.80 in the Manor Club (formally the Manor of Walworth) in Elephant and Castle. I believe it was £6.50 when I was last there in April.

A big gap between '82 & '89.

Guiness/beer was always more expensive in the RoI, generally speaking, than in the UK

talking of a can of guinness being as good as a poured pint, was in a pub the other week and the way they served a pint was to put a can into a special guinness machine sitting on the bar and the machine automatically poured the pint. there was no human interaction it took as long as it took which was about 2 mins. chatted to the barperson and he said he dreaded any order with over one pint of guinness as it would take so long. seems like guinness want people to experience a good pint of guinness but this really isn't the way

Even normal draught Guinness takes forever to pour because everyone keeps banging on about the 'perfect pour' and you've got all these shite instagram and tik-tok accounts called stuff like 'guinness watch' and 'london guinness quest' or something consisting of rugby lads and their dads all rocking up to a pub and sitting giving heartfelt reviews of the sub par stout. They're almost as bad as cocktails when the person in front of you orders 6 of them and the bar person then pours 6 half pints, lets them sit around for a few minutes and then pours the rest of it.

The problem is shite English bar staff techniques ;) pour six starts of Guinness pints at normal pump speed, let them stand for five minutes meanwhile take payment, serve someone else etc, come back finish pints. Fuck drawing any shamrocks in the head of the pint.
No delay to other punters, everyone happy,Two perfect pints today (the only ornaments of my parents my brothers and I wanted and the spoils of being sole carer!!!)

It’s getting out of control, someone needs to keep this in check. Post how much your pint of Guinness is costing here.
