1!

Very nice. Do you need parts for option 1?

- Tho I’d personally go silver quill and silver seatpost.

Voice of dissent here but given the chrome on the frameset and headset, I'd go for silver finishing kit and Record groupset. Always a quill on an age-appropriate frame.

Hmm yes this is even better! Something to match the chrome

For Option 1, I’d need the usual chain, cables etc but for the main stuff I’m short of a black stem of either type (but not a silver quill although I’d then need compact silver bars) plus, although I’d need to check, Italian threaded b/b cups. Oh, and a stealthy post.

I think comments so far confirm my initial preference for Option 1 (with consideration of variants to keep me honest/unsure).
Couple of other thoughts:
- saddle, stay with first thought of an Arione or a black Rolls or, further leftfield, a Turbomatic?
- tyres, gum wall or keep with black theme (if black ends as a theme)? Or depends on carbon wheels/silver Open Pro choice?
Any other dilemmas I’m missing?

If this doesn't get a quill, I'm putting the thread on ignore.
Lovely frame!

Oh, and Record 10 speed, black finishing kit.

Noted!

Here’s some mock ups with black option (plus carbon wheels) - disclaimer again that not these bars, stem, post or saddle)

Also, this is in the steerer, seems like it might be bonded in so that may influence the stem choice….

plus 1 for black Record - really nice that.

I also tried a silver post earlier

Yep this definitely needs a silver finishing kit. Deda Piega are really nice and cheap bars in 26.0 and apparently it's very easy to remove the black anodising

Not to sound like a broken record but would say that silver finishing kit would bring the chrome out nicely.
-
• #21
Silver for me, class is everything
-
• #22
Be reassured, I’m coming round to silver, already got some silver Cinelli quills in the shed and have been googling those Deda Piega bars

bonded
So you can't remove the nuts of the headset and you can never remove the forks or service the headset?
-
• #24
Not completely sure about bonding but that’s my initial impression - I can loosen the top locknut to a point (in technical terms ‘not too much’).
It needs proper investigation I think
Just collected this, really very nice indeed.
Thoughts turn to build options. At the moment thinking of either of the following:
Option 1 - 10s Record, carbon post with minimal/no branding, acetoned black Kalloy stem (or black quill if I can find one), black bars, black tape, black saddle (Arione?), shallow destickered carbon wheels (or NOS Open Pro on Record)
Option 2 - 10s Rival in silver, plain silver alloy post and stem, black saddle and tape, alloy wheels
I think I’m most tempted by Option 1
