Not all of them mind you, I think the Classic Vibe FSR 50s Telecaster is Nyatoh and the "standard" Classic Vibe 50s Telecaster is pine... not sure if it translates to the Strats also.

I guess it’s quite finish dependent, I imagine they wouldn’t bother using pine if it’s not a stain or translucent finish.
Do like the way the AmProII Strat looks in roasted pine.

That's lovely! I'm on the lookout for a pine CV 50s Telecaster myself and plan to swap the neck for an Allparts TRO-FAT neck (their fattest Tele neck with a rosewood board) and get some nice hardware and pickups on it! Perfect parts-Tele build!

That's a really good shout. Just went onto Stratosphere and they have LOADS of Fender Tele bodies for pretty good prices. The Brad Paisley silver and black sparkle are pretty cool, shame they're roadworn. There's bound to be something in there that'll do the job. Jimmy Page Yardbirds bender, anyone?

This is pretty hard to beat for US$769.99, I'd move the guard on, obvs. And for US$699.98 I can get the fully loaded black sparkle body.

Personally I'd be all over that black sparkle with a nice parchment pickguard!
It is a bit of a shame about the relic job though, could you contact them and ask if it would be possible to order an unreliced one? Surely couldn't cost any more? -

If they were in stock they'd be on the site, they seem to be a bit of a clearing house for surplus stock from all the big brands. Just been looking at their Fender® necks, so pricey!
Tempted to cheap out on the neck.
And yes, I was thinking parchment!

The Squier CV 50s pine Teles have a rep for being particularly heavy, sadly.

Found this used example in Perth, WA for a pretty tempting price, I'll offer them a couple hundred bux less and see how we go. I think it's gonna be cheaper than I thought to send a body to Nashville so this might work out cheaper than buying everything separately from Stratosphere. I'll get my man maths calculator out tomorrow. 🤑
It'll be a Kenny Vaughn clone guitar once Joe Glaser and I are both done with it. 🤦♂️

Still haven't heard from the guy selling that ^ thing, offered him $200 less than the asking price of A$1700 which was a bit cheeky. Oh well, too bad, too sad.
Anyhoo, this has popped up and I think it'll make the perfect donor guitar. 2013 MIM Tele Special Edition in blaze gold and only A$850. Needs a new bridge, I put a Kluson ashtray on my Nashville so hopefully that'll go straight on there, looks like the same modern Fender bridge. Maybe success!
Few nicks and bumps here and there but I don't mind that, think I prefer it to a relic paintjob.

This guitar ROARS!! Super loud acoustically and the pickups sound great, really nice and twangy, lots of guts.
The bridge on my Nashville won't fit, just compared the old bridge and the holes don't line up. Annoying but not an insurmountable problem. It's much, much lighter than my boat anchor Tele Deluxe, happy with that, dings aren't too bad, just needs a good clean. Happy!

Fuck, that's super nice. Great colour but yeah, the bridge wants replacing.
So annoying that no two Tele models seem to have the same bridge. That looks a bit like the longer ones that came on the American Standards on the 00's. If so, Glendale do one. https://glendaleguitars.com/bridge-plates/

Boring post alert. I'm looking at ABY boxes. I've been using a TU-2 to split my signal into two amps for years but it means having the tuner in an awkward spot on the board. Tuner placement is already quite an annoying conundrum as the TU2 has a buffer and makes my fuzzes sound awful if placed on front, so it can't go first. This has a tuner out as well so I'm hoping I can make it work. https://www.gak.co.uk/en/electro-harmonix-switchblade-plus-aby-pedal/78863?gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=CjwKCAjwpayjBhAnEiwA-7ena9ntY8nx29vAGREgwjKTCwu1w7NWxW5MmMR0Zl5l-2c3xtAWfKbgRBoCpSYQAvD_BwE

These are supposed to be good, I've tried to pick one up on Gumtree/MarketPlace a couple of times but always been beaten to the punch. Has the polarity and ground lift to deal with all the stuff I don't quite understand but is supposed to be important in these situations.
You also just reminded me of the time I stopped using pedals and had just a JHD Ice Cube II and an AB box, I thought I was soooo cool. 🥸 The music my band at the time was making was fucking garbage, we totally lost the plot. Total dogshit.
The Ice Cube was a fun little gadget tho', turns your reverb tube (12AX7, I think?) into an extra gain stage which then turns your Twin into a three channel amp! Ingenious but not amazing sounding. Bit flabby and 70s.

That's such a good match! I like the copper-y tone, bit darker than a shoreline gold.

I'm flabby and 70s. APPROVED.

Why do amp switchers need to be active? Is it only for the pretty lights? Shirley, it's just a switch?
-
• #13672
AFAIK it's a polarity and grounding issue, so not as simple as just being a switch. Things done moved on from my day.
Those Ice Cubes work on any Fender reverb amp with RCA sockets at the back. My old band had red and blue ones, for Twins pre and post '78. I think they can be had for quite cheap, give it a go! Mine's still knocking about somewhere. I think we bought them out of the back of the Melody Maker!

Just realised it's been like two years since I had planned to get this Squier Telecaster Thinline Master Series back in use and I've done very little about it since then...
I swapped the bridge for a Fender-ish hardtail bridge I got from Aliexpress or Wish and it actually seems pretty nice.
Tuners are Schaller Vintage F-series.
I've got some hum bucker size Roswell Charlie Christian pickups and I ordered this pickguard which doesn't align with the routs whatsoever as it's 24.75" scale (I've ordered another one with no routs so I can cut it to suit...)This highlights a problem... the pickguard will only cover half of the control routs and obviously doesn't cover the upper bout toggle hole.
I had been thinking about going for volume, tone, 3-way blade on the pickguard so do I fill the holes and paint it or what do we think? For once I don't have a strong vision for this one so I'm open to suggestions... I'd probably paint it Olympic White, Dakota Red or Black with some sort of milk paint finish if I paint it.

I like the natural finish and binding tbh. Dummy switch?
Oh hang on... you don't want to use the other set of controls either? Hmmm. Well yeah it's fill and paint then innit? Personally, I'd keep the Gibson style control layout.

Add a kill switch where the toggle was.
I did not know this.
