Assuming you're at home, if you use wifi you don't need to turn on bluetooth or install an app on the Garmin.
If you also join the Garmin to your phone's hotspot, you can plan a route in RWGPS on your phone and then sync the Garmin via the hotspot wifi.

OK, thanks. I wasn't at home, but mostly I am when I want to do this.

I've just had a look. My garmin was already connected to wifi. I've been to RWGPS - how would I sync from there over wifi? Can't see an option under share.
-
• #2830
It syncs any route you pin, assuming you've connected RWGPS to Garmin.

So, Garmin released an "Etrex SE". Pretty cheap but no Maps at all?

Aimed at hikers. Not so good when you're doing 40kph and wondering which junction or trail to take.

My Fenix 5 didn't record all of the floors that I climbed when I went to Coral Reef Waterworld this morning.
Useless piece of crap.

Has anyone worked out how to stop the Elemnt app asking for permissions every time I open the app, despite having granted those permissions previously?
Permissions re allowing SMS messages to appear on the unit, that is. Android phone.

RWGPS not showing the OSM Cycle map overlay for me today in the browser version.. hope it's not been removed entirely.
I've submitted a ticket to hopefully find out what's going on.

"there was an issue at their [OSM] end with Thunderforest going down, which took down our OSM Cycle and Outdoor maps. Thunderforest came back online around 5:21 AM our time this morning and those maps are now available again across our platform."

Anyone tried/investigated the potential of the iGS630? Currently available on Amazon for £170 and looks impressive.
-
• #2846
That's pretty close to the price the Garmin 530 is being sold off now so maybe not the best time to get it.
-
• #2847
Cheapest I can see the 530 for is £199.99 at Tredz. Specs seem better on the iGS630 as well.
-
• #2848
Yes, that price is pretty close to me. I just watched a review and the stuff that annoys me on the Garmin looks pretty much the same on the iGS, like laggy navigation and no way to easily create page layouts in the phone app and a millions of button clicks to go through the menues.

Fair enough. Seems like a question of whether it's worth paying the Garmin premium to have a bike computer that's just as annoying as the cheaper one.

Big phew
Garmin being hacked again :)
