Ngl, I think this might be another strategic error from Lewis. They’ve been trailing this engraved dial technique for a while. To drop the best part of two years’ worth of production on a Hoodwinkee LE… I don’t think their waitlisted customers are going to be particularly happy about it.

No doubt every single one of these LE pieces will get snapped up in record time though, regardless of execution.

glad I wasnt the only one that felt the same way when I saw the marketing email - anOrdain are giving the impression of doing everything but producing the watches/dials they're known for with all the recent editions. It might not be the case as there are probably different skillsets and people required for different dials but can't help but thinking they would be better off focusing on trying to increase enamel production

Well the implication is that they’ve already been making these for some time.

Having said that, it’s worth pointing out that the main bottleneck for AnOrdain is the enamel dial production. The actual watch production is not an issue. So I imagine they’ve got different people working on these, at least partly. But I think it involves some enamelling from one of their jewellers so I can’t imagine it has had zero impact.

My point is more that the optics aren’t great and Lewis writing “we’ve made a ton of these for Hoodwinkee but we haven’t really figured out how to offer this to those of you on the waitlist, any suggestions?” just looks increasingly buffoonish after the multiple waitlist/ordering system flip-flops they’ve already executed.

It does however give me a nice window of opportunity to sell my two if some AnOrdain hype gets generated…

Lewis seems like a very chill and nice guy but he could really do with a business partner who can get a handle on this stuff. He just doesn’t seem to understand how his decisions are going to play out.

Oh, interesting pic, hadn’t seen that. It’s clearly not the engraved + enamelled technique they’ve been on about for a while, the “champlevé” technique. This looks like something else. Like they’ve clear enamelled over an engraved (or maybe just stamped texture) metal base and then engraved the numerals into the top of the enamel (ie the glass surface that’s been created).

Actually, looking at it closer up I think they've just pad printed on top of the enamel dial like they usually do. The textured dial with the clear glass enamel on top is the new bit.

I just adjusted the shadow levels in PS - you probably saw this photo in email but all in shadow.

Agree it looks like pad printing on top of some translucent surface - didnt think it would be enamel but that makes sense.

Re T4AP, we should pick a month before the curtain drops for the final time and try to get a good LFGSS turnout. This is very much a kick up my own arse because I've been flaky af.
