I did think it wouldn't slip actually and I've not even tightened the clamp yet so a little grease rather than just dry although there will be cavity wax residue in there. I don't know how that dries shall i degrease the top 4 inches and the light grease will stop sticking and protect that bit of the seat tube from corrosion? Sorry i don't know metal

Just use grease rather than the paste. I doubt you'll have trouble with slipping.
