Turns out the Uncle Seiko jubilee for the SRPE Seiko 5s fits perfectly on this and it has made the watch soooo much better. The standard oyster bracelet is the same as the oyster on the SRPE and while it’s very comfortable it feels a bit wide for this. 20mm at the lugs and it only tapers to 18. This is much more suited to it (20 to 16).

I wonder if they will release another batch. No response to my query to them directly on that basis yet. There are one or two for sale in the US but that's a bit excessive given likely import duties.

Dial is beautiful, the hands not so much.

I like that Certina but think i prefer this 62 mas not really as a Pelagos alternative although i guess it is but i have a love hate relationship with my Squale 1521. I love the dial and overall quality but it's a bit big and a bit shiny for me. I'm going to try again to move it on next week. I like these. Have you handled the Seiko? It does have the end link gap which doesn't bother me but i do notice it now since its been pointed out. Maybe i should have just bought the blasted case Squale?

Yeah, weird. Is it because the hands might have been outsourced by Omega?
Edit: it’s lived quite a bit of its life in Thailand, so probably some moisture damage.

Dunno. A lot of them seem to go that way.

Those 62MAS inspired midrange Seikos are minor classics really. Pretty good size, nice design.
Bracelets always look weird on them though because they're imitating the skin diver case shape which was never designed for a bracelet. They tend to look best on rubber or a nato. The grey dial is my favourite and the original 62MAS colour. There are loads of variants though.

Its definitely on my shortlist. I quite like the blue as its a little smaller and less shiny than my Squale but still kinda fun and will still work with most of the straps I've bought for it. I'll try on here once more with the Squale then try elsewhere before committing.

Dunno if I linked this before but there are some interesting new 1521 variants with the COSC movement. Applied markers and a brushed/polished case for the first time.

I'm quite into the Bronze one apart from everything happening at
2 o'clock i hope they do one with a green dial or the green dial with the brushed/polished case. My blue ocean is just too polished. I was warned but i thought it'll be alright once it's picked up a few marks and softened a bit but in nearly a year the case hasn't picked up a single scratch. Squale do make a great case. -
