Rapha, nice but a bit pricey?

I love the kit.
I love the idea.

I've seen the paint today now and I too am urged to cast doubt on the sustainability element being anything other than this year's gimmick. It's a gimmick I'm sold on but a gimmick nonetheless.

The paint is class.
Rub-through finishes are right up my street.
Using leftover products too... I'm all over that.

Better/more effective ways to reduce the carbon footprint of the project...

Don't use paint at all... no solvents.
Instead, why not stickers/transfers/decals? Call them what you like.

Paint them all one single colour and only add branding?
Even through gentle media-blasting you could add branding so you literally could get away with only one paint product.

Leave them raw and simply paint branding on?

Use last year's bikes and re-paint them?

If no other teams are doing this, then EF x Rapha x Cannondale don't even have to do it well, they just have to be doing it better than others and that seems a disingenuous.
