The sleepers would have more surface area in contact with the rotty stuff. Can you do piers/pillars instead? Would allow for extra airflow underneath the structure.
Sink four 4'x4' posts 2' into the gound that only come up to just above the surface of the chips and build off those. Postcrete is very easy to use and would be more than enough for that thing.

That's a good shout.
I'm suggesting sleepers as I'll have some offcuts that would work. I'm adding another layer to my existing raised bed to put some of the waste soil in so didn't just want to skip them.
It comes with these ground anchors so I can just use those on the sleepers without concreting in then use L brackets / screws to secure the base to the sleepers.
Digging on the play area in the back garden starts tomorrow. Digging down to 200mm, levelling with sand, membrane then 150mm of softwood chips.
Question I have is how to fix the playset (this thing). It comes with 30cm metal ground anchors which I can set into the earth but I don't just want to leave soil at the top level and dig a 'moat' around it that I fill with chips as the ground will shift with the weight.
Burying the thing by anchoring it 15cm into the ground will mean the base will rot in the chips if water can't shift and it'll also mean the slide will have to finish below ground level by the same amount.
I was thinking of using some treated sleepers (100mm high) to create a square underneath the frame. Anchor that to the ground then anchor the frame onto that. Worst case, I can replace the sleepers every few years if they rot.
Any other ideas?
