Thanks I've been reading up on it and apparently it's a common problem just not with brand new Colnagos. I am going to try a narrow metal brush first. Lithium grease on the post was what helped me get the alloy on in in the first place it made a massive difference. At least the new seatpost is going to look nice once i can get it in

Before you start with a drill, why not try with come wire wool on a stick or a big bottle brush ? Then put some lithium grease on the Alu seatpost and see if it still marks the post when you take it out again.
