I think it's been quite unsympathetically polished. There should be a sharp bevel all the way along the lugs.

Thank you for once again articulating what I could not!

Yes, I think it’s the light on the pictures, but will investigate. Apart from that though…? I really shouldn’t.

No other drawbacks, it's a lovely ref, great size (37mm IIRC), dial is a really nice dark grey sunray rather than pure black, and it was a limited edition, 900 pieces.

Snap! Good choice:)

oh haha, no I live still in US. Folks live out that way, so my father offered to just go to their main place downtown for me.

I think, having been looking at some examples in the metal that I’m probably going to move my order from a GMT to an Explorer II, a watch that I struggled to like originally but has really grown on me recently

Black or white?
Is the waiting-list situation any different for an explorer? -

It’s like new watch day, back from repair at Calibre Watch Services

Its so weird, but im the same. Originally i didnt like it, but its grown on me and im not sure why. I dont know if its cause i cant stand the Rolex distribution/ sales issue so now willing to look at it, or if its cause im drawn to the ugly duckling, or if it looks more tool watch... It annoys me that i am, I feel betrayed by my feelings.

One thing with the Explorer II is I think the brushed steel bezel looks better than the cerachrom ones.
The current one is too big for me, but that’s me.
I reckon anyone in the market for an Explorer II should be checking out the GS series 9 titanium spring drive GMTs. They are better designed and better finished, and you can actually buy one. They're also a bit big for me but no bigger than an E2. The bracelet is really the only thing the Rolex has in its favour, objectively at least.

The good news is they’re very versatile - you can really dress it up with a smart accessory (think my daughter was channeling the recent OP bubble design when she made this for me)

Interesting! I'm guessing Moonwatches were a fair bit cheaper then.
Still got the EZM3. Great watch, but wondering how much I'll wear it now.....
-

Yep, hard to believe but Moonwatches used to be "reasonable" (golf club bait). By a typical master stroke of timing, i managed to sell mine just before they basically doubled the RRP overnight.
I regret moving either of them own, so do give me a shout if you do ever want rid of the Sinn. It's deffo due a service by now - that'll probably cost more that it's worth... ;)

I do like those GS, but i've got some weird aversion to a sports watch being shiny. To big up the Exp 2, it's 1.4m (ie 10%) thinner and sits flat, so no cuff issues. It's also effectively anti-mag and i suspect has better anti-shock too. It's deffo more a tool vibe, but that's why i liked it against the cerachrom crew. Come on @Dammit @ChainBreaker - come join the darkside :)
(didn't once refer to resale values. Crap, just did).

The GS is thick, that's my main issue with it. Being spring drive it'll have no real issues with magnetism or shock (no hairspring / balance wheel).
Resale value is a function of what you pay for it, and whether you ever intend to sell it! But yeah, hard to bet against the Crown.

For sure.

Oh My...
Is that Arial?
-
• #71747
That’s been asked before on here, and no, its not Arial, it’s some variant of Akzidenz Grotesk. The typography on that watch is really good IMHO, I really like the new design they did for the bezel numerals.
I’m currently wearing a watch that has loads of Arial on it (the Pelagos 39) which tells you that my therapy is going very well.

Hehe, yes it’s small enough to ignore. Most of the time anyway. I still know it’s there of course.
Sure. But the lug outers still look a bit polished. Maybe its just the lighting. Great reference though. I'll die on the double signed is superior hill.
