Full retro bastard Mapei? I'd like the Le Col Colnago kit that's discontinued like BillyGoat has so I'll keep a look out for one of those. The new seatpost is even tighter than the one off my beater and I'd absolutely trash the fresh gloss lacquer trying to get it in at this stage but i managed to get the post from my wife's bike in a fair bit. I've tried three 27.2 posts and they're all different diameters. I'm going to leave this in for a bit in the hope it opens the clamping slot up a little. The first time i tried putting a post in the bolt had been tightened without a post in. Not loads but it wasn't loose so i thought that might have created a bit of a pinch. It doesn't look great though does it?
