  • A question from a novice fixed rider - toe clips & straps or (double sided) clip ons? I found myself 'limping' with one foot in trying to slip the other into toe clips, rubbing toe clip on the floor for few turns until I succeeded....perhaps the fact I was wearing some vintage cycling shoes with flat and hard soles and the pedals were old CL track with equally flat (no ridges) surface was the issue?

  • It’s one of those thing that take some time to get used to, doesn’t help by the fact there’s no lips on the pedals to aid your feet to flip it round.

  • Fabulous bike. Loving those hubs

As Ed says, the solution is to stop being a novice. It would be a pity to deface Claud with new pedals when millions before you have mastered the toe-clips/fixed combo. On the other hand, my dad switched to MTB trail pedals (PDM-8020/9020) on his freewheel equipped bikes in his final years, so if you're in your late 80s there's no shame in making your life easier
