Audiophiles hifi appreciation thread old and new

Probably not quite the right thread - however! Any record shop recommendations in Brighton? Preference for CDs, both used and new, and mostly electronic and/or jazz.

Not been down in a while but going to be DJing there again in May.

If it's still open... Mr Bongo, Across the Tracks. Borderline had a small but nice selection... but I seem to remember that one closed?

New amp setup - Linn Klimax Kontrol preamp, with 100W x 4-channel Majik power amp for bi-amping the speakers. When I can afford a (used…) Klimax Twin 500W power amp it might change again, but for now I’m really happy, the turntable sounds astonishing through it.

I’m looking to add streaming via Airplay 2 > DAC > Preamp. Any suggestions? Wiim Mini seems to be the default in audio forums.

AirPort Express works great. I’ve got one if you need it. £40 gets me back what I paid for it.

You know what, I’ve actually got one of those kicking around in a drawer somewhere, I didn’t know it was capable of supporting Airplay 2. Thanks for that! Definitely worth a shot before buying anything else.

Nice one you can output toslink to an external DAC with a 3.5mm mini optical cable if you need to.

Yeah I saw that, I didn’t realise the jack socket was also a mini TOSLINK, I was using it in analogue output mode before.

After the customary (for me, anyway) struggle to get an AirPort Express set up, it’s working really well (only in analogue mode so far, I’ve got a mini TOSLINK cable on order).

Whole ceiling is treated, class A absorption whatever that means. Sounds good just now, with a notch less treble on the Tannoy controls. Sofa, rug and curtains among other things to go in so should be pretty tame.

Preamp TC-754 , very much the weak link in the system (along with the cobbled together Thorens), but it does what I want so struggle to justify £500 on something else.

I was hoping there'd be another dedicated record storage room.

Cabinet yes, floor is the OG pine parquet, we just sanded it. Window surrounds are mine.

Those window surrounds are well nice, what wood is it and curious if they are bonded or screwed to the wall?
