  • Forgot to mention - seatpost plain carbon, stem UNO unbranded .. plus it’s cheap until you can justify Ritchey bling!!!

  • Thanks for the inputs, I think until I can totally decide for the finishing kit I'll stick with the C1 that I already have. Might hunt for a carbon seatpost, but not too sure there was one in the C1 lineup?

Also found the bike in the 2012 catalogue, now I know the colour is called Magnesium White w Jet Black. Not too sure I like the original build TBH, too shouty, too much happening w all the different colours on the finishing kit...

I can see all black sticks and maybe fancy white-into-black bartape...?

  • I'm not too sure I done the right thing but I bought this Stages type A bb30 axle. If I interpreted the information correctly, this should replace the current axle on my Red22 cranks and make it "normal" bb30 length rather than the one I have now, thus eliminating the need for finding(more complex task imo) and installing the unnecessary spacers.

Also been watching too many Hambini videos I guess, so ordered 2x NTN LLB 6806 bearings. Apparently they soooooooooooooooo smoooth...

  • +1 for this ...better with the matching stem imo

  • Now these have arrived. Not perfect, but very good condition.
Waiting for the bearings and the axle to come trough post and hopefully then can build the bike up.

  • Who hasn't told me I need PF30 cups?! Stuck @ not having the correct BB basically, ordered them fancy NTN LLB bearings, yet the only place those fit is my spare part shelf, lol.
Anyhow, onto sorting out the BB, and also require a new RD hanger as it looks one thread is stripped.

Serviced the headset bearings with fancy red grease, yet appears the damage is already done, so those need replaced too... Oh, cycling....

On to the the BB subject. Some googling tells me my options are:

    • SRAM PF30 BB, around 30Eur, yet reviews say can go kaputt quite quick?
    • found some Cannondale PF30 to BB30 (use my own bearings) adapter, yet not in my width (68 mm frame)
    • loads of fancy 200+ eur options, which I can't justify.

    Thoughts?

  • Get the sram one. It’ll probably be fine

  • Those the 6806 NTN LLB bearings? I need a replacement set so if you need to get rid om them dm me.

Otherwise, just get the PF30 cups? Or get whatever BB fits and keep the bearings till after winter or a wet ride until you need to replace?

  • Okay gents, I'm stuck here.

I got the origin axle out only to find out that the one from stages does not fit.
Reason being - the splines on both ends are offset, not inline. Dammit.

So...I need a bb30 axle to fit my red22 etap crankset and to work with 68mm wide BB.

I've got now two axles to trade for, I'm attaching photos with dimensions and what I mean with offset splines.
The radial marks on the black axle are superficial and you can barely feel them with your nail.

Please help. I don't want to run the wide axle and 300 spacers.

  • Oh dear. Your experience reminds me not to change anything on my SS, which is the same as yours!

  • Yeah this is the reason I've stuck the hollowtech 2 for the last 15 years

  • I did change the bb bearings a year ago. It was a horrible experience. I asked myself why the devil, in this era of carbon fiber, am I using a hammer and drift on a racebike? Still, it all went back together and now the cranks spin nicely again. But there is a creak at every revolution.

  • I mean I can always resort to installing the stock spindle, I just don't want to run all those spacers. I guess I'll have another look and if nothing comes up I'll just build it up as it is..

Someone got dead crank that I can take the spindle off from?

  • Right the project has been on the pause for a while, but wife saying "why you need this when you no ride this??" plus some time off means I resorted to proper searching and found what I need to install them bb30/pf30 cranks into 68mm BB shell.
Apparently came as a kit number 11.6418.000.000. I've placed an order, hopefully that comes though from EU, otherwise would have to order from overseas.
Looks like dis and includes 13mm spacer for DS, and 4.84 + preload for NDS.

  • Any updates on this?

  • @fizzybubbelech did you ever find a source for these spacers? I'm also looking. Thanks
