Clearance wise I think it looks alright IMO? Around 5 mm each side at the narrowest point of bottom chainstays, or is this a no go?

I think I'd be ok with that, but I'd worry what were to happen if the wheel was to go out of true during a ride...
Don't worry though, because I can buy the wheels off you at 50%.

5mm is a lot on old bikes. Rims will be rubbing in the brakes way before they rub the frame.

Hah nice to see I'm looked after. Many thanks 🤣

Roger that. I shall go get my Saeco looted for parts this weekend, so shall see soon what's up with them brakes situation

This build is begging for an etap group, or is it just me? Why is etap so expensive tho :(
-
• #58
you'll probably be fine, but put some electrical tape or helicopter tape on the inside of the chainstays and after 1 ride pull the wheel out and check the tape. will show you if you have any rubbing you might miss on the paintwork

My wife has a 2012 hi mod so I have experience!

Good choice. Both the bike and the wife. She run 25mm tyres or 23?
-
• #62
23mm on kinlin xr22t
-
• #63
kinlin's are 24mm ext 19 internal, mine are 25/19, so pretty similar...will see how these 25mm GPs will behave, don't really wanna go 23 :(
-
• #64
depends how much your wheels flex. Kinlin's are shallow so your deep carbon wheels should be stiffer.

Now THIS has been posted to myself. Oh can't wait. Just need to sort out the brakes and buy the chain.
What BB to use on this frame? It's a bb30 crankset this one

bb30 bearings with some spacers and preloader, looks like some washers are included on the left of the pic.
edit : the crankset looks PF30 rather than bb30 length ? -
• #67
Yeah the cranks are stamped PF30 bb30 I was told, what does that leave us with?
-
• #68
bb30 bearings, but with added spacers ( you can see the offset bearing marks on the spindle showing the history of the cranks )
Pf30 was the other sram length of 30mm spindles that would allow them to be installed on frames with longer PF30 bb shells.this is the source of spacers i believe. Don't you have the preloader in the bundle ?
https://cannondaleexperts.com/collections/bb30-pf30-wave-washers-shields-shims-spacersi am no expert in bb30, every bb30 frame i had i went with gxp and an adapter.

I run some kind of C-bear in mine together with some of the KP483 spacers. You need to figure out the spindle length and space it all out accordingly.
Tightening it to specific torque helps determine the amount of washers and the compression of the wavy washer which is a bit fiddly.

Thanks for the input gentlemen, I believe this is my case? Taken from SRAM manual

About one hour with a toothbrush and here's the result.
The brakes are still left to sort out.

Stumbled upon these on one popular website, quite like the looks tbh. And considering I will only have the brake cables running through, could make a very clean look? Around 55 quid.
Yay? Nay?

At £55 I think I'd pass for the sake of my teeth/sternum. For an integrated setup, Farsports F1 gets good reviews at a lower (but not bargain) price. Given the older style frame, you'd probably struggle to get the integrated stem looking right without custom spacers thought? A nice light -17 stem (I'm a fan of Mt Zoom) and carbon bars would likely come in lighter too

Went through this exact same thought process with a recent build, for all the ok reviews available (Ali/ eBay etc) there’s a shitter which put me off… ended up going for a new alu Pro drop bar / uno stem combo weighing about 345g total. And you can get the bars in 360mm width which I’ve tried and ended up liking.
Plus integrated is far too modern for my luddite taste 😆

Some little update. Been away for work so only got the wheels now, they've arrived around two weeks ago actually.
The bits and bobs from bike24 are here too, so had to build them up. Look noice
