Absolutely obscene. To think of the multitudes out there in a months time waving their flags at them.
We won’t be able to escape it. Every church bell will be rung. I’m hoping to go somewhere where I can have no reminder of their existence until it’s all over and perhaps come back when the revolt kicks off. -

No, but you can attend one of the many Republic protests

I recommend Bleaklow, or the Windswept Plateau of Boggy Peat a bit further south.

The public being asked to pledge allegiance to the king can fuck right off
-
• #4091
On one hand it's just a throwaway line in the ceremony, and anyone not interested will just ignore it. But the breathless way it's reported by the BBC, as if it's some magnificent national opportunity (and worthy of a major headline), does fucking wind me up

so another £250mn on william in a few years, can't wait
the guardian have been doing a lot of interesting royal stories this year, uncovering some dodgy dealings. lack of inhertiance tax, charlies billions, talking about how items donated to the nation are mysteriously disappearing into the royal vaults. wonder if they might be able to afford their own ceremony next time, it's like when you go for a meal with your work colleagues, if the company is paying you go for the most expensive steak and lobster, if you are paying yourself you go for the more moderate pasta dish, wonder if it'd be cheaper if we ask them to pay for it themselves. give 'em a budget they have to work to

And a prime opportunity for the Mail to sow yet more division with people not pledging allegiance “traitors” (woke and lefty too, obvs).
And there’s still days to go, by midweek they’ll have spaffed themselves into a dry husk

I'm all for Ned Boulting's suggestion on Twitter that we do William and his heir at the same time, a 3 for 1 type deal to save money.
Alternatively we could get rid of them, turn their residences into hotels for rich yanks, and use the money saved to fund public services.

I honestly don’t think they’ve thought this through properly, they’ve made it an active decision that every person has to make. For the millions who don’t really care either way, the easy decision not to debase themselves will crystallise their apathy into opposition.
I can't be arsed to google the details, but I vaguely recall that the overall agreement was spun as being beneficial to the country as a whole, because Liz agreed to pay tax on income, but then it became clear in retrospect that it was a nifty piece of negotiation by Buck House and overall very favourable to them
