  • Feem but it's not automatic

  • Yes, had a quick go on it last night. It was good for some questions but was innacurate for a couple of obscure ones. I gave some feedback for those.

  • Power button no longer works on my Pixel7 Pro, bit of an issue as I now can't get the phone to turn on.

  • Less than 2 years old. Back to the retailer.

  • Just got an S6-Lite, first tablet since a 1st gen Nexus way back when. Think I might be a S-pen convert.

  • Anyone need a Sony Z3 Compact case with quadlock mount attached? (you could cut off the QL mount and glue it to another case as I've done previously)

  • Anyone selling a pixel 6?

  • New phone day, complete with unwanted bonus. Anybody want to give me £50 for a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds 2, Graphite colourway in sealed box?

  • New Samsung flagship,
    or,
is there a new Samsung price/feature champion in their range?

  • is there a new Samsung price/feature champion

I went back and forth over what would work best for me and eventually plumped for the A34, couldn't find an S21FE deal I could justify. I've been really happy with my Sony XA1 Ultra for 4½ years, but it's Android 8 and I know there will come a time when some critical app will get kicked off. Xperia 10 IV was a contender but I was swayed to Samsung by having them as my work phone, tablet and mum's phone for which I'm tech support.

  • Pixel Watch available for £279 at the moment.

    Gotta say I'm tempted.

Does anyone have one? Is the battery really shite? Will I got locked into a Fitbit subscription I don't want?

  • Fold, 7a and Tablet

Fold starting at £1,749 is a little spicy.

  • Bejeebus!!

  • i'm not really sold on the whole folding phone thing. has the samsung one sold very well? i'm not sure i've seen one outside a shop.
i might be a bit more keen on the tablet depending on the features, although i suspect it's probably just a safer bet to get an ipad.

  • I got one 2nd hand for about £200. The battery life is terrible. At best you'd get two days of light use out of it. I have just cancelled the Fitbit premium subscription after the free period as I'm not really using it for fitness or tracking, or else the battery would be even worse. I do like the notifications however, and how easily it paired and works with my Pixel 6Pro phone. I had a Garmin Vivoactive a while ago, and while the battery was better, the charging method was flaky and the connection to whatever phone I had was not consistent. And they recently released whatsapp beta which has an app for the watch so I can see full conversations and pictures now which means not having to get my phone out if I get a message. Reading and deleting emails is handy too, but I imagine many other smartwatches also do this.

Would I spend £200 again? Probably not. Would I spend £279? Definitely not. But, as always, YMMV

  • I've seen a few Samsung foldies out in the wild but no idea if they've sold in numbers or not. personally I don't see the use cases and that price tag is prohibitive for taking a punt.

Agreed about the tablet, seems alright but wouldn't be surprised if it quietly gets killed off in a few years like a load of other Google hardware that has come before it.

Tempted by a 7a as I've never really got on super well with my 6 Pro, just too big.

  • i'm still really happy with my fitbit versa 3.
i've said it before on this thread - it might not look as slick as the pixel watch, but it seems like it does everything the pixel watch can do, only better, with much better battery life, and they're available for £116

  • wouldn't be surprised if it quietly gets killed off in a few years

i'm not sure that's really too much of a concern. it'll be supported for long enough, and when it's out of support there will likely be a good alternative OS version available on XDA or whatever.

i've still got a nexus tablet from 2013 that i updated to android 11 or 12 with LineageOS and use as an android auto screen in my car.

  • I'm due an upgrade & was looking at the Pixel 7 a couple of months ago - the first deals i've seen with the 7a are pretty much in line or more expensive the 7 - the specs look very similar too, not sure what the difference is?

On the folding phone debate - the only person I know with the motorolla one loved it at first but now the screen has a very noticeable sharp crease in it, he reckons it's about to snap & it's apparently a common issue. Not sure if the google display is somehow improved but i'd be wary, even if I felt comfortable with the astronomical cost

  • On the folding phone debate

What is the problem it solves?

  • Probably need to get a new phone for myself.

Got my OH a Pixel 6 on some sort of deal.

I'd probably prefer a smaller phone, but would be swayed by cost/performance. Is that still the best phone at a reasonable price point right now?

    Cheers

  • pixel 6 is probably still your best bet for price/performance IMO
i'm hoping there's some truth in the rumours that the pixel 8 is going to be smaller.

lack of wireless charging on the 'a' series is the only thing that puts me off.

  • None for me - I think folk simply like the gadget element of it

  • Think the 7a has wireless charging no? That said it's the same price as the 7 just now, which is looking like the best bet for me now

  • ah yes! just had a look at the specs. nice!
