I recently purchased the MoonSwatch though (Mercury edition) and feel that it actually wears a lot smaller than the dimensions suggest.
The weight difference probably has something to do with it.

Lovely Seamaster.

Perhaps I'll get hold of a MoonSwatch as a long term test for whether I like the fit then. I may be a little while away from another more expensive watch purchase after having bought the BB58 a couple of weeks back. Will be sure to give @ejay2.0 a shout if I start to think about it seriously though.

thanks for the heads up on that, it is very close... I have asked to be notified. I also saw there is brown one out there with a leather strap (I know I said bracelet) which I did not think I would like but I do, and is a hundred quid less. Do we know what the leather straps are like on these? I am not near a dealer just now.
At the moment I am unsure about a GS Quartz, I really like the idea of a sort of hybrid mechanical quartz (the smaller basic model), but I do not want to be precious about wearing it and the polished finish might clash with those plans. I suppose if I found a used worn in one from a reliable source at a fair price that would be tempting. Thanks again. -

The straps will be ok but nothing like as good as an aftermarket one in the £70-£100 region. Which you could put on once the original strap is past its best.
Worth remembering for any Seiko watch that comes in different strap/bracelet options you can always order the bracelet (or strap) as a spare part. The Seiko boutique or the Seiko service centre can help you with that over the phone or email.
The Ginza dial Alpinist was a special edition last year and I think they sold out fairly swiftly. I’m a bit surprised they don’t do a different blue dial option but there is this nice turquoise/sage green special edition currently (only available from the Seiko store so not listed at other retailers):

It’s a little more expensive than the standard ones as it includes both a leather strap and a steel bracelet.

Ah, there is another blue model. Sold out at Seiko but seems available elsewhere.
Dial pattern looks quite interesting.

And this one on a bracelet on sale and an extra 10% off on top for the usual sign up. That deep lake dial is nice though. Many of the big online shops will be doing bank holiday extra discounts as well. I'm getting loads of emails advertising those now and with all the bank holidays coming up there might be some tasty deals

thanks again, only 3 of the SE blue ones left at EJ, pressure's on...... I will keep an eye out over the holiday weekend as you say. I mentioned the brown one, and also say what they called "forest green". And yes, always nice to think you can get a new/better strap at a later time, almost as if you have a whole new watch for under a hundred quid.

Good Luck 🤞
It's weird. I would say I have slim wrists and remember trying an older Speedmaster on, when they were around £4k, with the older style bracelet etc and thought it was way too large.
I recently purchased the MoonSwatch though (Mercury edition) and feel that it actually wears a lot smaller than the dimensions suggest. Not sure if that's because there's not a large amount of steel to contrast to the dial as the case is dark grey and matt plastic, or that it's on a strap and not a bracelet??
As @ejay2.0 said, go give it a whirl!
